1200 DVT What've You Done On Yours Today?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by nkibble, Apr 18, 2016.

  1. Took my base DVT for a trip down to Wales this weekend. 700 miles round trip later (2100 total now) and I'm loving this bike!

Scorpion II tyres handle really well, regardless of the road. Dry, wet or hail! :)
Really good grip and confidence inspiring. Having bought the bike the week before Xmas, this was the first time I've gotten any dry and warmish road. The bike sticks to the road like a dried-on fox carcass! Front tyre is wearing a bit odd though.

I've put the carbon screen on, which has sorted out any wind buffering issues for me.

The oil has dropped noticeably after the weekend - so I'll have to keep an eye on it.

I used a 30L topbox which worked great. Plenty of room without any handling side-effects.

My only regret is not doing the paint protection. Group riding has caused some unpleasant stone chips already.

Couldn't be happier with the bike so far. The Power Rangers on their sports bikes don't know what they're missing! :)

Anyone thinking about doing the 42T sprocket - do it! Do it now!
Fires the bike out of corners like a rocket.

  2. Saw a couple of multis on teh A5 Sunday when I was heading home from Bangor to Gloucester.

  3. That may have been us. My mate has a '14 PP. We were lucky with the weather on the route back.

  4. I must have followed the only two bikers in the world (for about 30 miles before I overtook them) who stick to 60....

  5. That's ruled it being us out then. :)

  6. Ha no that was two Trumpet adventure types, am guessing you would have been going north?

  7. Today? Nothing.
Monday? Quick trip to the accessories supermarket to get a last couple of things.
Tomorrow? On the ferry to Newcastle :)

  8. What trip you got planned?

  9. Newcastle to Whiby for a festival over the weekend, then over to the Lakes District for a few days, then back to Newcastle for the ferry home.
A few people have given some very helpful suggestions about where to ride, on a previous thread. All going well, we'll have the route mostly finalised tonight :)

Still thinking about going to a 42T sprocket when I replace the chain. What's mostly inhibitinh me is the amount of time we spend droning down motorways to _get_ to the interesting stuff.

  10. I haven't noticed it having an adverse affect at m'way speed. I'm out on Sunday so will take a note of the revs at 70/80 in 6th if that helps?

  11. Please do; that'd be quite helpful.

  12. Had a good 100 mile run out today. Only on the back roads between Milton Keynes and St.Albans however the weather was very pleasant - sunny with an air temperature about 14C and the roads were dry.

While having the side stand replaced last week, the dealer did some updates. The bike definitely seems better in the 5k to 6k rpm range. Shame we can't find out the various software load / map versions on the dash - I suppose I could have asked when the dealer did the updates :-(

Anyway, I had the orange warning lights on more than few times (Wheelie Control - default level in Touring mode). Just ordered a 42 tooth rear sprocket, so I expect to be seeing them even more often :)

  13. Nothing. But may be using for work tomorrow as I've just smashed a front wheel off the rim avoiding some kid!

  14. Been travelling up to Welwyn Garden City for work for the past few days and am doing the same again tomorrow. 160+ mile round trip and the weather has been fantastic. Tomorrow's looking a bit cloudier though.

  15. I'm getting out on mine on Sunday.
After being really impressed with the Evotech radiator and engine guards I've bought the crash bobbins and front wheel bobbins. I wanted the rear wheel ones too, but out of stock. :(

If you're planning on ordering anything from them then use "scrambler10%" code to get a 10% discount.

Hopefully it'll arrive before Sunday now. There's got to be some omen about taking the bike out when you've got crash bobbins on order? :)

  16. Sounds like you had a close one there. :flushed:

  17. Had this fitted
Not a big fan of the up map ,trip to hilltop is in order I think

  18. I'm trying (with only mild success) to convince myself I'll be happy to stick with the standard exhaust. I need to unleash the boom with a full system.
Time to sell a kidney. :)

  19. Ridden to work on it today, so have a few figures:

    30mph - 2.7k in 3rd
    70mph - 4K rpm in 6th
    80mph - 4.5k
    90mph - 5k

80 and 90 are all theoretical of course, given the 70mph limit.

  20. Did a cracking ride-out to the Peak District today.
230 mile round-trip and we had everything from sun, rain and even snow. Somehow managed to catch Snake Pass on a fairly quiet day too. Result! :upyeah:
