Incorrect. And if there is no reason "why they can't compete together", why aren't they? Sexism and misogyny I suppose? :Meh:
I'd love to see a successful female MotoGP rider. Again, I think the physical demands are just too much. That being said, Dani is a bit of a waif, and has a girl's name.
strength? more than is required in marathons and triathlon? don't remember seeing to many Mr Universes behind the wheel.
And women's triathlon & marathon times compared to men's? How many Mr. Universe's run marathons? Here are the marathon records - Drop the shovel, your digging deeper with each post.
It's interesting when you look at the British and World "Superstars" competitions that the world of motor racing (F1 and motorcycling) is represented at a very high level. I remember watching some of these at the time and marvelling at how racing drivers did so well against actual athletes.
I dislike the toxic dwarf that is Bernie Ecclestone. However, to be fair to him, if you read around the subject a little, he actually said that he would indeed like a woman to succeed in F1 and would be prepared to finance one who he thought would have a chance. It's just that he didn't think one would have a chance because the physical demands of driving an F1 car successfully (ie, winning races) is too great. So, only sexist in the sense that saying women don't have todgers is sexist. Of course, far more fun to ignore what he meant and leap on to a high horse before charging off into the sunset.
Apparently Ecclestone has followed Danica Patrick's career quite closely and has sent her congratulatory messages on many occasions.
Sorry Fin, these guys are regularly pulling 5G and every extra kilo of flab increases lap times. You are right about the reversing though
Brilliant In typical fashion, you lose the debate, move onto another subject, put words into my mouth that I don't think and haven't said, then sling an insult. Touche
So - Bernie : outdated misogynist ? Discuss... I did not say I disagree with opinions expressed about the man however the topic raised some questions and the replies too, it is a not a simplistic discussion unless we are all about hating the bloke, to hell with anything that says otherwise and no questions about the arguments from the other side. How about he is an complete ass with some good points? Maybe it is wrong to assume he does not know other competitors from around the world or his own business. I would guess if you went to a Bernie party some people you think that would be offended by him would probably be there despite all the silly things he might say, they probably know that's just Bernie. Obviously I would not know but it is silly to argue about it on a public forum. What the public hear make it seem like his decisions (or statements) are not great but what about this EU debate non-sense, is that clear cut. I know people who do know him and work in those circles. They don't tell me much anyway probably for the best. I just know he is a character and I suspect there are more like him, either way he's been pretty successful as have other people that don't get such public consideration but I bet they are not saints either. I have said I don't rate him on face value but that's no more than any idiot down the pub who thinks they know how to run a football team. I could tell you things, hearsay about others involved but won't. Just look into the the fingers in pies, broadcasting etc. Not just Bernie. I know I should shut up really but someone might be interested because people keep posting about the physics and equality or am I not allowed? I guess I am sad but I do take a genuine interest in other peoples posts especially about what they do or are passionate about. I will potentially be in the paddock with a young female in several weeks who wants to turn pro eventually, who is mentored by the F1 lady who was interviewed on the radio directly relevant to this exact topic... " The car is much more physical than karts and places a lot of stress on the neck and upper body, due to the high forces and speeds, she has had to do additional training, she is also quite petite so we have had to play around with the car set up to get her comfortable" This is Club Level, probably not what you'd call a career feeder championship. Is there then, in fact an argument women actually get or want better treatment than males, or perhaps a different argument money from all directions corrupts the sport. I understand you don't want to discuss all that and you'd be hard pushed to find out the depth of that but it's not simplistic. Ducbirds recent post suggest they won't let women try in case they beat the boys which I guess is in good taste, but it's not school, it is a very pressured environment re: the link on my last post about Lewis Williamson who was dropped just like that (I'd be gutted) is that a lost childhood and or perhaps other career prospects limited. Like work if you don't get the grades and experience you better know the right people and even then... Not to mention the millions it probably cost to get there. I don't claim to understand the politics (Bernie etc) it's above my pay grade so I won't go slagging people off or deliberately mis quoting where possible and applogise in advance if I get it wrong or offend. I wanted to show reason, but the information maybe be too much to absorb. To date if you put these women on the grid that have not raced in international single seaters or have not finished in the top 5 they would really struggle because it's like going from GSCE level to teaching as a professor. Like uni you don't get there with out the right grades and in this case, top 10 or top 5 Finishes in Karting kind of prove you are going to sink not swim when the going gets tough, or at least people choose those with better results first. Schumacher was reported to have blood tests in training, these teams don't mess about. I would not be surprised if they even take family history (DNA) stress issues etc into account. I find it really interesting what they go through. Just remember at 5G your body parts weight 5 times as much, so if a head is 5KG that could be 25KG. Arms get heavy etc. I have only raced at 3G. Some people pass out on fair rides at 4G apparently? 3G is more than you experience in a bungee jump if I remember correctly, those scientific people on here will say, it is how long it is sustained but it is hard work still. I have desperately wanted races to end and even been ill afterwards for a few days due to low carb diet and excursion. I do know from a reliable source F1 cars are easier to drive now than they used to be, so things might become less demanding. While women can no doubt drive a car of this performance it's about doing it in direct competition. There is a huge process of elimination of championship winners from around the world, I can't comprehend the numbers reduced down through more challenging championships prior to f1. The reality is we don't live in a nice world where people give millions away on a whim, most drivers have to find that money. I've spoke to sponsors (at low level) and it's real ball ache, they are business deals not charity. i.e. A developer builds loads of houses, the estate agent that sells them, sponsors the son.. that is the least hassle deal, win win. I could list examples but I won't. I have been on the grid with the outright record holder at one British Circuit that still stands to my knowledge after many years, people have discussed and praised that record and I understand the driver now works in London and did not progress, is that fair? If he had other opportunities how far would he go? There is a big difference between those who run in mid field and get better over time to those who are always at the front and leading by a margin. There is just a lot more to it and you may not want to hear it but I have learnt by being involved. In my case it ranges from not having parking spaces for the set up, spaces in the garage which is perhaps due to not paying a proper team. Those who spend more, those who get run by the factory vs publicity - it happens at all levels to everyone. Controlled parts, tyres (no back handers with that deal?) Part worn tyres are snatched up so some people so no tyres for testing = more new sets sold. The more you do, the more you are excepted but no one can argue with results. There is no point falling out over something silly, so I apologise in advance if this offends but I would hope like some of the posts on here, some people might find it semi interesting.
9G is usually considered about tops. Short fat bastards generally sustain G better than tall skinny gits. I am not saying flying a fighter jet is not physical but driving an F1 car, and being competitive, is not quite the same thing.
right back at yah stop looking for a fight all the time. no1 how many woman enter the sport? no2 are there female test and fighter pilots? no3 do they regularly pull similar if not higher G forces? you have all the answers i am sure. PHA-Q my life is to short. :smileys:
I wonder how many F1 and MotoGP riders / drivers could run a marathon or and of these crossfit championships as surely these require the same things stamina physical strength etc etc
