Jenny Tinmouth 119mph. If it requires pysical effort, the best man will beat the best woman. Its simple human mechanics I'm afraid. Nothing to do with equality, finances or opportunity.
She would still be on lap one when most have finished lap 5. Check her times out, she is way off the pace of any fast club racer never mind world class. Jenny is way quicker, and gets lapped in BSB.
:Hilarious:. remind me why he is a twat? because your all agreeing with him?.. doh. :Hilarious: :smileys:
It Is possible to agree with a twat. Same as its possible to agree with a Scot. Doesn't make them less a scot, just because they may be right.
well, that made a lot of sense. to some i'm sure. yip, sev. a man of his time. thankfully most have moved on. but with bernie being the competitive type maybe he has just put it out there to promote competition. who knows? who cares? the woman that think they can, that's who. :smileys:
How many tennis tournaments would Serena Williams or Martina Navratilova have won, if they had been obliged to compete directly with Djokovic, Nadal, or Federer? Answer: none, obviously. Women's tennis is a great spectacle and a popular sport (if you like that kind of thing), on its own terms.
looking at the average size of GP drivers you cant possibly tell me its down to pure physical strength. and nor do i believe lewis hamilton is stronger or fitter than serina.
if bernie said on average that males have better reaction times/ better sense of direction, spacial awareness. i could go with that. but to say because their woman therefore they cant just makes no sense. that aint a right on 21st century man statement btw. i just don't go with the "no can do" attitude this place reeks of. :smileys:.
Indeed. Though I notice that Serena's serve is faster than that of a lot of the guys. She probably wouldn't have won many tournaments that the top players you mention competed in, but she would probably have given a good account of herself and made a decent living. She is something of an exception, though. She's built like a tank. None of the other women would come close.
Driver weight and strength are factors, along with many others, in the engineering compromise required to win in F1. Also strength and fitness are very activity specific and at top levels the differences are very small but very significant. Serena wouldn't even fit in an F1 car, but Lewis could swing a tennis racket. These are undeniable facts. Women can do very well in extreme endurance events however.
ok. try this as i aint for giving up yet. nor will i be jumping on a bandwagon because its easier. i will wager the top five females from most physical sports are fitter than most f1 drivers and strong enough to be successful in f1. but obviously i cant prove that on ere.
Which brings us back to the same point... The fact remains that there are very few women at the very highest level of motorsport - but, statistically there are very few men either (about 25 in F1 at any one time). If there were more women at all levels of motorsport, more would get to the top... If more girls were getting into karting at an early age it would be possible, theoreticaly, for one to get to F1 via the "Lewis route"...
For goodness sake , Jr., will you please stick to the thread topic and stop meandering off like a female f1 driver map reading her way round silver stone !
There is zero point in mixing sports for comparison. WTF has tennis, or sprinting, or marathon running, got to do with F1? The facts are the facts. When a man competes against a woman, both at the top of their sport, unless there is some quirk (extreme ironing, holding your breath underwater, no ideas what...) the man will win. Why are there no women in top darts? Top snooker? Pool? why do men and women compete separately in diving? I think access to sport and sponsorship is a large part of this, and it will take a huge change over time, and will help level the playing field but until the biology (with one or two very exceptions) evolves it will always be the same. BUt Bernie is still a self serving, egotistical, racist (probably) and misogynistic (likely) twat Even though he is right.
Women do make it to being fighter pilots. I guess their talent does shine through, rather than being a token gurly.
