My 999 that is, not the missus! I'm out of action for the next year due to spine surgery required to keep me biped. I had 2 ops 20 months ago at short notice so I left her on a rear stand, under a breathable cover with the battery out, tank about half full. I was hoping this May Bank Holiday would be us back to normal but, at short notice again, I need another rebuild and won't be fit MOT till next spring. I know its probably out there somewhere if I tried to pull it all together, but if some knowledgable friend could just help with me a steer as to long term storage (must do's only, I think) I'd appreciate it as I don't have a lot of time to get my stuff sorted. I'll put it in 4th and get someone to turn the wheel every now and then. I'm not sure whether to empty or brim the tank. I'm not sure ACF50 is going to be worth it. I'd like her to be fit and ready when I am so if you guys say it's worth it, I'll get it done. When I'm back fit she'll probably have been 3 years between starts. She's an 04 biposta, black swinger with 1098S forks, shock and brakes, marchesini forged wheels, top end blueprinted, cams dialled in, full Termi, DRS rear sets, Oberon slaves. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Regards, Xxapass
Get a front paddock stand as well that will help the front tyre from going out of shape. If it's been stood for a long time your want the belts changing and all the fluids replacing too before you start it up. Where abouts are you?
Best to drain the petrol - I put a very light spray of ACF50 in the tank and close the cap. ACF50 will work fine all over exposed metal and down the pipes. I bung my pipes with the cheap bungs off Ebay but you can stuff a rag down but not really necessary. Wheels off the floor as mentioned. No need to turn engine really as you will be changing the belts before re running. You didn't say if it was in a Garage? Good luck with your long recovery
Sorry to hear you still laid up Get well soon and you will be reunited in no time well feels like forever but it's not
Thanks Exige, That was just what I needed to know, I appreciate it. Yes, she's in the garage. Have fun this summer. I'm looking forward getting all this behind me and a serious amount of road in front of me as soon as I can. Regards, Xxapass
Thanks all, I appreciate you taking the time to help. I'll get the front wheel onto a stand as well. I was wondering about that. The missus can do the heavy lifting! I'm down in Hampshire, moto rapido country. Regards, Xxapass
