Ducati friendly B&B in Cornwall

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Ronnie Ringding, Oct 22, 2012.

  1. Next month I leave my desk job and moving to Cornwall to start a B&B.
However, I want to offer something others may not so would like your input / experiances of visiting B&Bs.

I want to offer riders garage or under cover parking (at least for a couple of bikes).
    Hanging space for wet gear.
Access to my own tools for maintenance (general not necessarily Ducati specific).
Parcel service for clothes. You DHL your suitcase/cardboard box of clothes to me and after an unencumbered ride down and weeks holiday I post it back to you.

Can you think of anything either rider specific you would like (though it is not a rider exclusive B&B)?

Also, when you have visited B&B's (with or without bikes), what have you found good and bad that could have been better?

    Thanks.

  11. Try and catch the angling crowd if you have any lakes nearby, or near to the sea being cornwall - recommend tackle shops etc

  12. A drying room for riding kit would be a good idea.

  13. Good luck on the business venture, sadly I cant help with any new ideas, but I may look you up in the future :upyeah:

  14. That all sounds OK to me, best of luck.
I usually get lumbered with the organising of B&B's/routes when a bunch of us go on biking trips. Any complaints from the lads have almost always been about the scoff. Good grub, and good showers and you've cracked it.
One in particular ( Mrs Woodier's Holywood House in Grantown on Spey-highly recommended) is great, she always has platefuls of freshly baked cakes and buns laid on for us when we arrive, out of sight parking round the back for six/eight bikes and loads of piping hot water. Just what's needed after 8/10 hours biking around the Highlands.

The clothing parcel sounds like a good idea, not really needed for a bunch of lads (jeans and t-shirts are all I take) but definately handy if travelling with the wife (she needs a seperate frock-van to follow us)

Where is this B&B you're starting?

  20. All you'd need is a glorified cupboard with tempered airflow to dry the gear quickly. I'll look into supply fans for you, shouldn't be mega pricy.
