I find very little difference between the 996 and 999, both hurt my right shoulder (all bikes do, ongoing issue). 996 has more weight on wrists, 999 more on arse.
think my next purchase for the 749 will be a gel seat for sure! i also find the 749 to be worse for making my fingers go numb which is really bad

Too right chap! Had a call from a close mate this morning - his lovely old dad who is 93,terminally ill with not long left was scammed out of £900 by some lowlife scumbag! He lives in assisted accommodation so it shouldn't have happened really but these low life's are clever at what they dB were really great and gave him a leaflet about bogus callers!!! I got the CCTV recording and took it to a couple of the local puff heads who know all the local low life's operating in the area.They knew him straight away,told me his name and even showed me the shithole he lives in.Someones in for a night he will never forget? Ho Hum
it is one of the nicest, easiest to ride, most characterful bikes ive ever owned. when i had one years ago i loved it to bits but used to think it a bit of a handful (not power wise but overall weight and lack of turning circle and what not) 10 years later and this one feels like a ped to ride! perhaps part of it is because it is unmolested and very softly sprung compared to the 748 and 749...
