My 916 has an aftermarket clutch slave fitted by a previous owner and it has started to leak. The only problem is that there are no makers details on it just a logo. Does anyone know the make and if you can get parts ?
Ducati Suite- Clutch Slave Cylinder The Evoluzione unit is very nice. It's all billet aluminum, has three o-ring seals, and is backed by a ten year leak-free warranty.
It appears they are or were from California - they are / were on this Forum on the link... evoluzione clutch slave cylinder | Adventure Rider
Buy some Vito O Rings locally - the diameters should be easy to suss out - just be careful on compression as this is critical. They can leak if too fat as well as too thin. Couldn't link this but paste it into Google and you can download a design guide to help. www.hitechseals.com/includes/pdf/o-ring_brochure.pdf
There are a couple of suppliers locally so I will take to old ones in to get a match. Thanks for your help.
I have an Evo slave cylinder on my 916, very nice, well made part that has been working faultlessly for many years, they even have a bearing inside incase the pushrod should spin to prevent it being 'drilled'. Unfortunately the company, 'Evoluzione Cyclesports' is no longer trading, some info here; Evoluzione cyclesports???
Well I stripped it down and found that one of the 3 O Rings was US so went down to my local bearing and Seal factor, who matched them up. The replacements were very slightly thicker but worked. the clutch is a little bit heavier but as the total cost was £2.70 I can live with it
. It's only slightly heavier. It was only working on two worn o rings before so with 3 tight fitting o rings tolerances will be tighter. I checked that they would compress into the grooves beforehand. I expect they will bed in within a bit more use.
If you want a light clutch for free, you can try taking some plates out. The reduced preload on the clutch springs reduces the pull on the lever. Of course, if you overdo it, there is a risk of clutch slip but my stack height is now somewhere in the low 30mms and I have no slip but I do have a 2-finger light lever.
I have a friction plate at the bottom, rather than a plain, which effectively reduces the stack height. I have also removed most, if not all of the doubled up plain plates. Main thing is to alternate plain and friction so you end up with a plain at the top. Works really nicely.
