Hi all. Next Saturday a few of us are riding from London to Portsmouth catching the overnight ferry. Can anyone suggest a nice pub with good food maybe not more than 3o miles or so from the ferry? Looking for decent food as the beer will have to wait till we get on ferry. Many thanks in advance.
Its a few years since Ive been via Portsmouth but there was a pub right by the ferry terminal that did food. Carpark could be seen from pub so can keep eye on luggage.
Seven Stars just outside Petersfield on the A272 going west towards Meon. We are catching the Friday evening boat to Santander, then heading towards Valencia, Barcellona and the south side of the Pyrennese. Wave if you see us!
Well we wait until tomorrow to decide on routes, better weather forecasts,we do not book borrowed, just stop when tired etc. Has worked very well for,the last several years, but it looks like off the ferry, breakfast in Falaise, then D roads for the week until nearing Calais. So Falaise thenD roads to,near Le Mans, Tours, Chateauroux, Gueret, Tulle, stop near Grove, then towards Figeac, Aurillac, stop near Clermont Ferrand, then towards Vichy and stopping near Dijon, in St Sienne L'Abbeye. A couple of days enjoying all the roads in that vicinity, then routing up towards Avalon, Peronnne, towards Calais and do the last stint on motorway to Calais. That can and does change like water running down a stream, but good fun.
Chateauroux -Gueret-Tulle is a great stretch of roads! If you can, do Gueret-Aubousson-La Courtine-Ussel-BortLesOrges-StFlour as well. That has to be one of my favourite stretches of roads in France.
