996 Front Discs- Brembo Supersports

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by duc996bp, May 26, 2016.

  1. I have this type of disc on my 916SPS ( or a slightly older version). I also have 4 pad P34 calipers (as fitted to 996R/748R/749/999) with Bendix MRR pads and Brembo RCS master cylinder.
The discs were the first mod and I didn't notice a massive difference.
Calipers made the biggest difference. Fantastic power and feel compared to standard calipers.
RCS master cylinder was just icing the cake really.

  3. @duc996bp mate I've got a brand new set of fully floating galfer club sport discs for sale if your interested?? Came from louigi moto but never fitted to my bike, pm if your interested or want some pics.

  4. Are the calipers a direct swap from std setup? I have heard of P4 calipers in previous posts, it that the same thing?

  5. P4...P34...not sure of the exact designation but they are the later 4 pad calipers like on 749/999. They are a straight swap but you need new brake lines as the angle of the banjo on the calipers is different.
They can be picked up pretty cheap these days. Very worthwhile mod in my opinion.

  6. Aren't the P4 bolts spaced at 60mm?

  7. P4\34 Calipers are a direct replacement for forks that have the 65mm spacing, early forks have a 40mm spacing but you can get adapters that will allow fitting to the early forks.

That tends to make it an expensive upgrade but you will notice the difference.

This is what the adapters look like.

  8. I assumed 996 has 65mm bolt spacing.

  9. It probably has but Ducati used anything they had on the shelf with some model year bikes. I have three 748's, one is an 748SPS and that has 65mm front fork spacing for the calipers and another of the same year has 40mm spacing, they also have different electrics despite the SPS being slightly newer than the stock 748, yet it has early electrics.

The crossover year was in 1999 roughly.
