Rat?

  1. Bloke driving a delivery van down my rode today. It gets used as a "rat run" and has cars parked all down one side. He was going WAY to fast and shot by a pull-in he could of used. He broke hard but didn't lock up as he thundered towards me. I had stopped. He reversed up and I saw he had his mobile in his hand. As I pulled along side him I told him to slow down which he acknowledged, then told him he'd do better if he wasn't using his phone "don't you worry about me" was his reply then he shot off.

Thing is, I don't like reporting people, but a mate of mine was knocked off his bike and killed by someone on their mobile so it gets to me.

I got 1/2 the reg and the company name. Dob them in or not? Don't want him to lose his job but if he killed someone.....

  2. Yep report him

I have done the same when a young guy in a works pick up pulled across in front of me and I had to run off the road to avoid an accident
I followed him had a chat he wasn't interested so I told him I would ring his company and then he would be
The owner apologised to me and said he would be discussing it with the lad when he got back

  6. Difficult one, if it's a lifestyle then reporting it make sense, but if it's a one off and he's having a bad day then I'm not too sure. Id probably um and ahh until my outrage subsides and then go on my way.

  7. I would report him Cream, its getting a joke how many people feel they are in 100% in control and yet texting etc on their phones. Where I live there is a huge agregate company and the amount of times these guys in lorries drift across in to the "opposite" lane is ridiculous you can see them just staring down at their phones. In an accident its unlikely they will come out worst off. Rant over

  8. Good point Carr01, but if his boss is half reasonable he will give him an earful on first offence, but at least he is aware should a next "offence" be reported.

  9. Would you expect anything different from a delivery van?

If you want to do something, go and lube your chain or wash your bike.

If you were to report every speeder or bad driver, it would consume your life.

  10. My mate can text while wheeling at over 100mph :)

  11. I have only reported one in my few years of driving

There was a police presence stopping people on phones on the main road by my house.

The worst offenders I see are women with little ones young women 17-20
    Van drivers and lorry drivers
Taxi drivers are on the up too
One woman yesterday in her Audi was busy texting the queue in front of her had left
I slowed coming the other way peeped her and she still didn't react
I shouted out of my window and she went bright red lol

  12. Report him to his company.

  13. A delivery person should have a windscreen craddle so they can tether a hands-free ear piece. Doesn't cost much & keeps them legal, but I've seen people on the motorway driving at night using a tablet in their laps! A quick phone call to the company asking to speak too the transport office, suggesting drivers have handsfree kit & not use mobile phones on dangerous back lanes would ease your conscience then do it.

  14. This isn't a minor indiscretion, this person is behaving in a very dangerous manner and sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Report him to his company.

  15. Love it

  16. I find its best to follow him home discreetly and make a note of where the moron parks his instrument of death and go home and tell nobody - not even the Mrs! Set alarm for 3.30am (deep sleep time) then pop his van window and torch his van.Job done

  18. its a tuffie. head says yeah hart, and hypocrisy says naw.
the only driver i have officially complained about was a copper. it wasn't his driving i complained about. more his vivid imagination.

  19. grass him up... sure i speed at times on open roads (well most of the time) but i have my wits about me, i have to.. i will never use my phone in the van. the amount of cu=ts i see texting whilst driving drives me to distraction...had a woman the other day in a chelsea tractor drive (albeit very slowly) straight thru a roundabout in front of me when she should have stopped. she was texting... worst part was , when she finally looked up from the phone to find me nearly t boning her and shouting at her she looked at me like i was out of order! 3 kids onboard and all... instant fukn life ban for texting.. 2 years for talking.. as it goes a uni prof recently done a ... what ever it is they do... and says hands free is worse than hand held when it comes to accidents.
never needed a fuvken phone to drive in the past... why now? the man who invents a device to prevent phns being used by the driver only will be very rich.

  20. We have ALL ridden or driven stupidly at some time! The only scum that must be grassed are Nonces,Kiddie fiddlers,Paedo's.When you start opening the doors on reporting people to OB you can very quickly become a police state? Remember that not all that long ago normal German and Polish citizens informed and pointed out Jewish, communist, mentally challenged,Homosexual neighbours to engratiate themselves with the SS.
