Got the first mot coming up ,just wondering about whether I need to have my rear brake bled again.Never had any trouble with previous bikes so not sure how good it needs to be ,bearing in mind how good the front is,cheers.
When you press the rear brake lever down, if it hits metal before the wheel stops rotating then yes, it needs bleeding.
It must achieve lockout. This is what I was told when I asked my MOT tester. I mentioned before the brake test that the multi has a woeful rear brake. He said as long as it achieved lockout, at any point, it passed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lockout meaning it locks the rear wheel. By "achieving lockout at any point" he meant, at any point during the test. I.E. The rear brake slowing the bike gradually and only locking the rear at sub <5mph is fine. It doesn't need to lock immediately, a slow down and lock right at the end is a pass. Where does ABS fit into this ? My two MOTs on my Multistrada have been through the dealership where I bought it and have it serviced. The rear brake is next to useless yet it still passes.
Again, I asked him about ABS. We had quite a chat during the test [emoji6] He said, the wheel will always lock at low speeds. Example being, try wheeling the bike with the brakes on. ABS doesn't keep it rolling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
