  1. Hi, I'm looking for a set of Showa forks with titanium nitride coated fork legs. Must be straight and in good condition. Looking to fit to 748. Would prefer Ohlins depending on cost.

  2. If going for the Ohlins you will need the 56mm bottom yoke

  3. I've a pair of Showa forks from an ST4s if these are any use.

  4. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

  5. Hi, if they are a straight swap for the 748 forks then yes I would most definitely be interested as long as there straight and in really good condition.

  6. ST4s forks are 50mm at top yoke.

  7. Which I think is smaller than the std 748. So it has to be 996 or 998s. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

  8. I think some 748 are 50 so have a measure.

  9. Will do.

  10. My 2000 748 has 53 sia at the yoke so ST4s are no good. Thanks anyway.

  11. 748, unless Ohlins will be 53mm top and bottom. Ohlins are 53mm top and 56mm bottom.

I don't think Ducati ever fitted Ti-nitrided Showa forks to 748/916/996 not sure about 998 though?

If you're just after the Ti-n coating you can get them re-plated or new tubes...

  12. That is a good option yes. Definitely seen them on 996/998.

  13. I had some 916 Showas rebuilt by Ktech with their internals, radial brake mounts and ti-nitride tubes. They could have replated the originals but I got a quicker turn-around on new tubes.

Though I have now fitted them to my Monster as my 916 has 1198 Ohlins.

  14. Ohlins would be my preferred route but as mentioned before I'd have to change the headstock to accomodate the larger dia. Will look into the K-Tech option. In the mean time a pair of 996/998 Ti coated will do ....... If I can find any that is lol

  15. Not sure why no-one has suggested base 1098/1198 Showa forks unless I'm mistaken. I currently have a pair of 43mm 1198 Showa forks waiting to go on my 853 (ex 748R). The 43mm measurement is the slider tube diameter and the outer diameter in the yokes is 53mm (parallel all the way down). Andy

  16. The 848/1098 showas will fit the yoke. However you then need to consider new calipers/axle/discs/wheel/spacers/speedo drive.

  17. Indeed, I have the 1198 Ohlins which need the larger bottom yoke (although you can bore the original +3mm) but, like the Showas they need some work/extra expense to fit as you will need to fit radial calipers, new spindle, 15mm offset discs for your existing wheel or use a later wheel/disc setup (but you then lose the speedo fitment).

I did this and am happy with the results but it's not as straightforward as just changing the forks and can soon get expensive...

  18. Yes, good point. I'd forgotten the extra work but well worth it though IMO. Andy

  19. Didn't realise the 1098/1198 forks were the same. Are they a straight swap for the standard 748 forks ?

  20. Forks into top and bottom yokes yes but you will need radial calipers, wheel spindle and different (15mm offset) discs. All of which I had forgotten when I posted. I picked up the forks with spindle, Ohlins cartridge kit, M4 calipers and discs from forum members. Andy
