Hey Group, I need to put my '99 748 in storage for the Summer and was wondering what steps I need to take as far as the gas tank and the fuel currently in it. It will just be in storage(my garage) for about 3 months till Fall rolls around. I live in Texas and the summer is just too brutal to sit on it in traffic. Plus it needs new rubber all around and a new front cowling which will cost total, around $1000.00. Any advice is appreciated. Ric
if its hot where you are mate id drain the fuel out of it and leave the cap open so the tank doesnt get hot and expand, use both front and rear paddock stands and disconnect the battery or remove it all together.
Another option is a fuel saver. This will stop the fuel going off and causing any lacquer buildup which could block the injectors. A better option is draining the fuel but if you have never removed the drain bung from the tank then it can be hard to get out. Starting the engine now and again will keep the belts from possibly taking some form of set, although I have never had that problem. I keep one of my bikes standing a lot of the time and I just take out the battery\batteries and keep it\them on charge, but weather in the UK where am is not that extreme most of the time
cookster, Thanks buddy. Yeh, it gets really hot here in Texas. The normal temp for Summer is 110 fahrenheit, and that's without factoring in the humidity levels. So my garage can get blistering hot. Ric
