Dover Traffic Delays

  1. I have to book all sizes up to 16.5m long,so a couple of hundred quid return for a van never seems very dear tbh.
Try Harbour Shipping or Via Mare next time you want to go across, they book hundreds of crossings daily and you might get a better deal going freight.
That goes for most ferry routes btw, including the Aegean and the Med.

  2. No real hold ups to speak of today, although at Calais French passport control were taking their time.
There was a quite a long traffic hold-up on both sides of the A16 at Ghyvelde, everything diverted off to the nearest roundabout and then allowed back on again...bit strange, unless it's just to get the traffic to come to a halt.
But there were no police or security there whatsoever..very odd.
Worth remembering if you are heading out,if you are too wide/nervous to filter you'll be sweating in traffic for an extra hour.

  3. Has anyone else noticed that the slippery money grabbing airlines hiked up fares while all the Dover delays were going on?

  4. Probably got more to do with school holidays than Dover delays.
    Just a guess mind

  5. We came over to Belgium on Saturday afternoon in the car, used the tunnel. The traffic was backed up to the tunnel junction so we managed to miss it. Got delayed at the tunnel though but only by 90 minutes. They were checking random cars in detail but didn't look like anything out of the ordinary. Felt really sorry for the people in the queues for the ferry!
