Ducati History Support

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by COH555, Aug 7, 2016.

  1. So, I'm looking at buying a Hypermotard. After a couple of relocations the seller has lost the service book. The miles aren't massive but the couple of times it's been serviced has been at Ducati main dealers.

Now, I've previously had a couple of BMW's and they have a central system that records by VIN number whenever a Beemer goes to a main dealer and for what.

Do any members know if Ducati have/can offer the same sort of support in regards to a Duke's history and if they do, how I go about obtaining it?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Yes, ask the dealer who serviced it :)

  3. As above.

I've never understood people who lose service books, I treat mine like the crown jewels. My local dealer managed to lose my Streetfighter book when in for it's 3rd service. As I bought the bike from him, he just gave me a new book, fully retrospectively stamped with the previous services taken from their system. :upyeah:

When I bought my 1098R, the seller said he thought he had left the service book with the dealer and never thought to ask about it. When he checked, he had some 6 months earlier and never gave it a thought. :D

And for me, the dealer receipts are even more important even than the book. After all, they also list the parts and work done.

  4. Obvious line of enquiry but I didn't mention that he's the second owner so doesn't have the details of previous services.

  5. Thanks for your response.

I too look after the service book and all the receipts for any work done to all of my vehicles. I just don't get some people?!

Cheers for the advice. If I can find out the dealer it was originally purchased from the likelihood is that it went back there for its first couple of services.

  6. Ask your local dealer - it should show

  7. Thanks dude.

  8. MY Fila 999R showed the supplying dealer when checked with a Ducati Service Centre :)

  9. Yeah, it doesn't have to be the supplying dealer. Any Ducati dealer will be able to tell you it's history through their network.

  10. Cool, thanks guys. That's what I wanted to know.

Assuming I can identify when and where it had a service can i just but a replacement service book from Ducati?
