Just got back from a cracking weekend on the DVT, a few hundred miles over the border through Wales via Abergavenny, Builth Wells, Elan Valley, Devils Bridge and a camping stop near Aberystwyth. Superb weather, great company, stunning roads and scenery. I've had my DVT about 9 months and to be honest it's taken me a little while to bond with it, having always been on hyper sports bikes, but the last couple months I've got the suspension set up about right for me to enjoy the fast twisties and this weekend packed up with the panniers and tent on the back it was so enjoyable I really want to start exploring more and having some further adventures. I do have some downsides to report - it is a Ducati after all; - the front brake reservoir cap has started leaking again (was only replaced a few weeks ago by the dealer) and - I think either the battery in the key is going, or the wireless receiver is failing again (had that replaced 6 months ago). Jumped on the bike Saturday ready to set off, pressed the ignition on button and ....nothing! Used the emergency start button and code and was able to set off and make a few stops. By lunchtime the key seemed to be working again!
The key fob goes into sleep mode if not used regularly I have been informed. Although carrying a spare battery for it is advisable if going on a long trip. Slap some performance caps on your reserviors!
Thanks - I'd only ridden the bike the previous evening to top up with fuel, so I don't think it was in sleep mode. But maybe my expectation for sleep mode isn't the same as italys
