Is there one available as the seat on my new 1200 dvt is not as comfy as the comfort seat on my old 1200 was.
There is a Touratech Rider Comfort Seat [96880201A] - yours for a mere £364.80 (UK List) from your friendly Ducati pusher. I splashed out on one as I found the standard seat uncomfortable on longer runs (over 200 miles). I had to resort to an AirHawk cushion for touring which is OK but I prefer not to use one. The Touratech comfort seat uses the same base as the standard seat but is a bit more padded so is about 10 to 15 mm taller. It can be used in both positions with the standard plastic spacers etc.. The shape is better than the standard seat - it doesn't seem to tip you into the tank like the standard seat. I've used the Touratech comfort seat on a few 200 - 300 mile days and I've found it very comfortable. An air cushion is a cheaper option for comfort if you can get the pressure right and don't mind removing/refitting when on tour when leaving the bike outside overnight.
I also have the Touratech seat. It is more comfortable, I could only manage about an hour on the standard seat but this has more than doubled on the comfort version. I found the stock seat a real "nut crusher" and the Touratech is way better in that respect. Having said that, on my previous bikes I used Sargeant seats and they were good for 500 miles a day riding and I don't reckon I could manage that on the Touratech. Unfortunately Sergaent aren't making one for the DVT and there isn't going to be one in the near future. I don't want to hijack your thread but I would be very interested to hear the views of any Corbin seat owners.
There's a thread on the US forum that has some comments and photos on the Corbin seat, from both me (LA_Stu) and another forum member: Better seat for 2015 DVT? - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
I also have the tour agency comfort seat. Initially I felt if was hard and not much better than stock. After a couple months it is better. Maybe my ass has broken in to the seat.
I'm going to sussex motorcycles next month, gonna have the seat reshaped - flatter so I don't keep sliding forwards - and with a memory foam insert. Bit cheaper than the touratech option....
It's a pre-book walk in service, he does mail order as well. Elite Comfort Seat Motorcycle Memory Foam Inserts at Sussexmotorcycles.com, better than gel pads for rider comfort.
That's an interesting thread and the issues around the height of the Corbin are worth considering. However, what is your take on the comfort of the Corbin and would you be happy riding with it all day?
Hi folks, I'm at the testing stage, the only thing that is stopping me buying is the seat position so hopefully you can give me some pointers. I've test rode the Multi twice now. The first time the seat was on the low setting (I'm 5:11) I had issues that I've noticed other members discuss mainly crushed nutz. When I took it back out the seat was on the tallest setting which definitely did help. However the other issue relates to the angle my back is at. I'm currently on. VFR1200 with helibars. I find the angle for my back is great and get no pain but I noticed a little bit of discomfort on the Multi. So here is my question have any of you got a seat that has lifted you up sufficiently to give a lean angle without sliding forward and developing the crushed nutz syndrome. Thanks
only the airhawk , I'm afraid , Im the same height as you. I had the seat on the lower setting and fitted the airhawk , which was incredibly comfy , much comfier than any foam. It does however look shite I guy I was working with recently in Canada who nearly bought corbin ( the company), It didn't work out so no trips to California with him unfortunately Whilst they all use similar High density MDI foam it is indeed about the shape Ive worked in the seating industry for a long time , and nowadays manufacturers use heat maps and computers to work our posture and long term ride comfort. Can't really see how youd get that from drive in and out cut foam shop , though im not saying they couldn't improve it looks like Im saving for a touratech too , getting cheesed off sellotaping my nuts to my stomach
It really is about the shape. Corbin uses a rounded pocket saddle shape which can be very comfortable even though the padding itself is quite hard. Seargent seats tend to be equally hard but go with the flat platform route instead of a rounded pocket, not always comfortable. Some aftermarket seats are just filled with soft padding, rarely comfortable. I hate the stock seat, but it looks so cool. Also use the airhawk for longer rides. This bike needs a classic style Corbin Gunfighter seat
My spool chucker took over on that note. It is indeed the touratech seat that I have. It's better than stock but my nuts are still getting a flattening. Better than stock but not perfect. It's in the low position which I like better than raised.
I have a 2013 multi with the standard seat and its comfy all day 300 miles plus. I sat on the new 2016 model and the seat is narrower and pitched forward. I spoke to a customer who has a touratec fitted to the current model, who said it was better but not perfect. How can Ducati not figure this out themselves that the new standard seat is worse than the model they are replacing ? I was considering (but not seriously) of changing to the new model, but this issue was enough to make me wait a bit longer.
The Touratech seat really is a big improvement, no pressure on the nuts now. I also added the Ducati/Touratech bar risers (these are the same ones that allow you to lower the Endure bar height). I used this set up with the seat in the high position on a big European trip and it was great on the legs, but the angle did make my wrist ache a bit on long days. Now with the seat in the lower position and bar risers it's ideal. These are the Touratech ones: Ducati Performance Handlebar Riser Kit, +20MM, Multistrada 1200 DVT, 96280311A | eBay I'd still rather have the bars a fraction closer to me and I'm considering a pair of these: Buy Gilles-Tooling 2D.GT Riser | Louis Moto
Yes, I think with bar risers the nut squish would be less. Since I like the standard riding position I am going to put up with that. I'm not in the saddle (hey, hey) much anymore.
