916 Expert Needed..weird Frame Brace On 916 Sp3

  1. Hello, I have recently purchased another 916, this time an SP3, on strip down for a good clean (its sat a while)i noticed a strange aluminium billet frame brace, which runs across the width of the bike below the airbox. It is beautifully made, clamps to the frame very precisely, looks like it has always been there.
It is not on any other 916 iv'e ever seen naked ! It has a few nice early Corse bits and pieces on, just not seen a thing like it.. Very odd.

Any one spotted anything similar ?

I've attached a picture, or attempted to anyway

    Thank you in advance

  2. Possibly part of a frame protector ?

  3. Most definitely part of a crashroom kit. Had a set fitted to my 748sp and wish I'd never got rid of them, a great bit of kit. All you are missing (on that side) is the nylon mushroom and securing bolt. Hopefully you have got one on the other side. Andy

  4. I had not even though of that ! Good call that man !!

Damn it, its not a rare prototype Fogarty factory prototype

  5. Yes its identical the other side, i will be taking it off 100% as anything non original is coming off. Thank you for enlightening me both of you. Might even be able to ebay it too. Bonus !

  6. I'll take them off your hands if you don't want them please. PM me. Andy

  7. You can still buy them new.

  8. Where ? Google hasn't got a clue. Ta, Andy
