Just running in my first ever Ducati . I've always had Japanese bikes , the last being a ZZR 1400 performance sport. Brilliant Bike but touring was painful because of past injuries. Having only ridden the DVT for 600 miles so far - what a fantastic bike. Handles really well , strong motor and no aches & pains , first service Saturday then can really get to know the bikes character ,cant wait.
Welcome and enjoy (you definitely will ...) I've ridden mine (no Skyhook) even for 7 straight hours (only stopping for gas) and I never had an aching back or knee. It's really comfy
Welcome mate. Hopefully you'll have a trouble free bike! There are some out there despite how it looks on here. I know cos I have one 6000 miles of trouble free brilliant riding - enjoy! I'm thinking of maybe dabbling with a ZZR at some point. I'd be interested to know how it compares with your new star in terms of handling, power, comfort and if you did any two up long stuff? The multi is brilliant two up fully loaded. Retains its agility superbly well and is so easy to manoeuvre compared to other bikes I've owned.
Now you are into the 2nd running in period. Although the technicians said to me you could take it all the way but slowly decelerate down I stuck with the manuals procedure.
Adding to what @GunZenBomZ said, doing my own oil changes helped me monitor the running in of the engine. It's now just before the second desmo service (48K kms) and it has just stopped accumulating metal deposits on the magnetic bolt. It's at this point that I consider the engine fully ran in (that is, without consuming any oil...).
Any one read the alternative recommended method of running an engine in by MotoMan on mototuneusa.com. Any one have any thoughts, what he suggests sounds plausible. And good choice of bike Pappy by the way
Welcome, had mine serviced this Monday, the big red light came on at 621 miles just as I pulled in to MotoRapido, but I am now sticking to the 7000RPM that's in the book till 1500 miles. Bike sounds really nice now past 5000 RPM though, and I passed the 1000 mile mark today and am fairly sure the engine is just starting to rev more freely now its loosening a little...Enjoy. :sunglasses:
