Secondhand Iphone4s Or Above Wanted

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by CRYSTALJOHN, Oct 11, 2016.

  1. Anyone got a secondhand iphone4S or above that they want to sell for a reasonable price.
My perfect iphone4 that I've been using for about 5 years and is still performing faultlessly doesn't support ios8 which is needed more and more these days so if I want to continue using my banking ap I'm stuck with having to upgrade my phone. Really don't want to upgrade as my old phone works perfectly but have to come to terms with living in the reality of today's tech obsessed world- sad old bugger that I am!

  2. Suggestion would be to look for a secondhand 6 with a cracked screen. Screens only cost 30 quid delivered so you may be able to save that way...just a though as im just about to replace a screen for a friend now - takes about 20 mins to do...

  3. Mmmh not a bad idea , like the idea of having a larger screen and very familiar with taking phones apart. I'm a fan of the excellent high quality engineering and solidity of my old 4.
It's about the only thing I've owned that's never gone wrong.

  4. Hi I have both a 4 & a 4s. in good nick 1 is black the other white. PM me if interested. Thanks

  5. 2 screws and the screen is out. The hardest part is switching all of the cabling over and the button....plus when you order the screen they send all the tools with it....

  6. i am in a similar position just now,, tho going from 5s up,, been looking at s/h 6 ( 6s just a little too big ) but bit too pricey , many with broken screens much cheaper, my worry is that there maybe more wrong with them than just the screen then i am stuck with it,,, i hear / read that the cheap screens are not apple ones,, does that really matter and what is the difference ,,and just how diff is it to change all the cabling over and the button,, all in 20 mins ???????

  7. Well, ive repaired 4 so far so getting quite good at it....ive used the 30 quid screens on ebay and theyve all been fine.

    1. screws down the bottom of the phone and the plastic "spudger" as the call it to get the screen out.
    2. unscrew the cover for the batter and pop the plug (just to kill the power)
    3. 5 screws to remove the plate that covers the ribbon cables that connect the screen to the body
    4. At that point you transpose everything from the broken screen to the new screen....im just summarizing...thats the bit that takes about 20 mins...just being slow and methodical.

  8. Been there, those screws are tiny eh!

  9. so what are you saying,,,, " i dont need a grinder ? "

  10. Sadly no....as i say all the screens ive bought have come with the relevant tools....tweezers are handy for arranging and routing the cables up around the camera area and removing the pressed connector down the bottom that connects the button/thumbprint reader.

  11. you are making it seem easy,,, a couple of whiskeys and i will be ready to tackle it ????? how about unlocking,, how easy is that,, any idea,,,

  12. Miniscule....ill wager these things (apple stuff in general) are only designed to come apart so many times before all the sticky tape and glue stops doing its job...

  13. Double sided tape works wonders though.
Never understood why they throw in a Plectrum in the tool kit though, I seem to get one every time I buy a replacement battery.
Not a job for anyone with shaky hands.
I feel like a brain surgeon must do when I'm 'Operating' lol.
