I can't see that being nasty is helpful. But on the other hand, the bloke has done 2 years inside for a rape based on a victim's evidence who was so drunk that she couldn't remember "whether she had consented or not". Hardly proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he raped her, it seems to me. Sure he has now been acquitted, but I can see that people might not be very happy with her. You don't have to get drunk with footballers in hotel rooms. You can also just go home.

Minefield.... It got me to thinking. I have a mate (yes, genuinely) whose girlfriend who frequently gets so drunk she can't remember having consensual or otherwise with him...is there implication in the fact that they're still together that its consensual, even though she doesn't remember in the morning? I wouldn't fancy arguing that one in a court
People have to take responsibility for themselves too. Does anyone ask their wife before initiating nuptials or is it an assumed Yes and if she doesn't want to she will say so and clearly not participate?
My understanding of recent case law is that a women has the right to say "no" (or stop) at any time up to and including having initiated coitus if she so wishes. Not sure that there is any case law regarding the same situation but with the man saying no or telling the woman to stop and I intend no lightheartedness in that sentence. Andy
On a different, but possibly related theme, Caroline Aherne's husband has written about the years of abuse he suffered at her hand. And seems to have caused an uproar from the celebrity lot and not yet seen that on national tv as a lead story.
He was only married to her for 3 years, according to Wikipedia. She was often extremely ill. It probably did make her unstable.
If you are referring to the identity of X, the complainant in the Ched Evans case, no her identity will not be released. She is entitled to anonymity. Anyone publishing her name etc is liable to be prosecuted and punished (as several people were previously).
Pete If her allegation is false, why is she still entitled to anonymity? I'm assuming a case is being formed against her now for wrongful accusation?
What accusation did she make ? I thought the case rested upon her lack of consent ? Until she said "fuck harder". But who did she think she was saying it to ? From an outside superficial knowledge of the case it seems like it should never have been brought. What a sad reflection upon all concerned.

What allegation would that be? X's evidence consistently throughout the whole case has been that she could not remember whether she had consented or not to sex with E. So you seem to be saying that X should be prosecuted for her failure to remember. Pretty tough to get that one to stick, I would think.
