When I got the 899 I thought I would tuck it away over the winter but can't face so long without riding. Now plan to use it when the roads are dry and not too cold (only at weekends of course as no time in the week). Went for a decent length ride yesterday (about 100 miles). Really enjoyed it. Of course was going slower through the corners as aware of cold roads plus lots of leaves and crap about but surprisingly overall cross country speed not affected that much. Bonuses of riding at this time of the year: far fewer other road users (especially the Lycra brigade), trees look amazing with all the different coloured leaves and the hot drink at the end is very satisfying. I think there is also a bonus in keeping your bike dirty. Had the 899 been sparklingly clean I might have thought twice about going out but as it was covered in crap and needs a clean so I thought sod it, it won't look any worse if I go out! Each time I ride the 899 I love it more. Has grown on me massively in the month or so I've owned it. Amazed at how comfortable it is. Just feels right too. The S1000R was brilliant but although the sit up position and wider bars made it easy to ride I much prefer clip-ons. Feels more natural. I was also curious to see what it felt like after having ridden the D16 in the week. Much, much easier to ride is the answer! Was tempted to take the D16 but decided that cold and windy weather probably not the best conditions to learn how to ride it. Plus it was sparkling!
Last winter I rode at least once every month for the first time in about 12 years. Even Jan and Feb you can find a nice dry day and rapped up warm it's nice to get the crisp air in the lungs.
Yep - while as ive said in another thread ill ride if i can but wont in the rain, snow, and wet (salted roads). Been in work for about an hour now, took the car as there was a thick layer of frost this morning, but, it looks like its going to be a really nice day. Just searching for a reason to go out...
Lovely here too...but forecast not good where I am as going to start raining mid morning. Glad I got our yesterday.
Only got out to take the RSV4 for MOT....and, ive gotta be honest ive got a HiD kit for the hyper which i should really fit so this afternoon could be in the garage but thats not necessarily a bad thing....
Multi will be acf50'd and I'll be out and about as weather permits. Set off yesterday to meet a couple of mates at tickled trout and then over to Southport, frost warning light on for most of the day! Thanks to some decent Rukka gear and heated grips it was a comfortable day out
