Hope all our Southerner members in that part of the world are OK. A fairly large quake hit the South Island and a tsunami hit the North Island, according to the BBC. Nightmare.
Heard this on the radio an hour ago. Not seen any updates as to how serious, but hoping its mostly non inhabited areas affected.
There was a guy shown on BBC news just now and he said that though it was quite severe the only visible "damage" to his house (so far I guess) was a picture frame behind him was skewed. I hope that is the case. How are you @NZDave ?
gov warning for folks on East coast to move to higher ground as tsunami is imminent ,, good luck to them all.
Hi @El Toro and other Folks, I'm fine, didn't even feel it, thanks for your concern. Was a 7.5 quake, 2 dead, many injuries and Billions of $ infrastructure and housing/building damage, was a mainly rural area, top 1/3 of the South Island, plus lower part of the North Island, including Wellington. And to think back in March I rode down the road to Kaikoura It was a stunning bit of road as are most of the roads in the South Island
Hop Did you see the baby sea otters in the stream/pools at Omaha Cove I think, just north of Kaikoura?
saw some marine life sunning themselves on the beach my eyes were more on the road and enjoying the ride
