He's a share holder. At one point solely owned I think. The impression I got was that it was actually him that wanted to go...
The investors don't want him in charge (Qatari I think), so he tried to bring in some Chinese investors to buy them out. He failed, so now everyone wants him out.... allegedly.
Maybe I dont know what I'm talking about, personally I think he's a great man which I have admired for many years.
If that's how they've been with him, then I'm going to boycott McLaren and not buy a P1. I'll take my business elsewhere.... Skoda probably......
Ron Dennis bears almost sole responsibility for the falling out with Renault and the debacle that is Honda. He has been unable to replace a major sponsor and had a falling out with his business partner of many years who has now aligns his 25% share holding with the 50% share holding Qataris who can't stand Dennis. Not sure I would go quite as far as that. You have to have got something right to have won as many races and championships as he has. I do however agree with you that IMO, he is a very disagreeable fellow. Andy
He appears to have totally lost the plot in the last few years. At first it was funny how much money McLaren were spending to run around at the back of the grid - but then it just became embarrassing. What truly amazes me is how long Honda have stayed involved - they very rarely get into anything unless they can win. But throughout it all, the same smug self-satisfied look remained along with the complete inability to look straight at an interviewer or give a straight answer. Lewis Hamilton is a product of the Dennis school of personality traits - if it wasn't for him there's a very slight chance that Hamilton might not act like such a spoilt petulant brat...
Its a fine line being at the top, in my eyes he has been a fine ambassardor for the sport, its a shame it ended this way.
agreed, maybe not everyones cup of tea but def good ambassador for the sport,,, wonder if the team will improve, be hard to believe that he was holding the team back.
Friend used to deal with them a lot. Ran it with a rod of iron. Ron's way or the highway, allegedly. No debate. No discussion.
