I genuinely can't remember what I did pre iPad, I've never read the broad sheets especially on the throne but now.....i take it everywhere. Should I be considering counselling?
I can now go online and check the forum and reply to posts rather than waiting till I got home and onto tne PC when it is old news
One of the things that makes me laugh is 'Readly'........ For £8 a month you can read as many magazines as you like (well, the ones they have done a deal with, I guess)...... But in this day and age, who has the time to read magazines when 99% of the time, people are staring at their Twitter and Facebook accounts, taking selfies and photos of their dinner? That's assuming they can read, that is. I hardly ever had time to sit down and read a magazine before the IT age.
Talked to each other read books and magazines Jackie was my source of info for boys and make up There was a magazine with the latest music and words Watched the news Wrote letters used the phonebox/home phone Never ventured outside of the city boundaries You married the local boy/girl
I think I watched Charlie's Angels and Minder and went to bed with Five on Kirrin Island -/and yes used the telephone and recorded the best of the top 40 on my tape recorder not to mention summer evenings riding horses and walking dogs - then there was the paper round which brings back memories of cold wet Autumn mornings !!
Having read and listened to another recent radio debate, I find it bizarre that people in the same household text each other from different rooms rather than getting up off their asses to go and actually TALK to one another. It's no wonder inter-personal and communication skills are dwindling. I text yes, but if I wish to communicate with someone in the near vicinity, why bother sending one? I would like to see how these hapless individuals would cope, were they robbed of these 'essential' tools for a while. Not an advocate of returning to the dark ages but some level of self control is vital else the nation will fall into the unthinkable....total dependency on electronic aids and no mechanism to cope without them, should they fail or you be in a position where they are not available to you. SatNav being a perfect example. It's not foolproof, so learn to read a map. What's more the batteries never run out!
It used to take guile and cunning to get your hands in porno magazines without embarrassing yourself at the newsagent or getting caught by your mum. Now you just google it on your phone. Kids have it far too easy these days.
They don't have any in Europe, but I'm sure ElT will have brought some back or perhaps just the memories :Woot:
