  1. Oh look, no Rae or Byrne or anyone of interest much. And don't know why Dany Willet is on there when Rose won the Gold medal? I mean, Bale, for what?! :)

Nicola Adams - Boxing, Gareth Bale - Football, Alistair Brownlee - Triathlon, Sophie Christiansen - Equestrian, Kadeena Cox - Athletics/Cycling, Mo Farah - Athletics, Jason Kenny - Cycling, Laura Kenny - Cycling.

Andy Murray - Tennis, Adam Peaty - Swimming, Kate Richardson-Walsh - Hockey, Nick Skelton - Equestrian, Dame Sarah Storey - Cycling, Jamie Vardy - Football, Max Whitlock - Gymnastics, Danny Willett - Golf.

  2. Its a load of bollox mate, the BBC doesn't recognise biking achievements even tho top 3 WSBK are Brits, Cal doing the best season for Brits since 1974, Shakey 5 x BSB etc etc. Typical friggin BBC establishment crap!

  8. Lets not forget Danny Kent last year and he was a world champion ffs,ok he would have had zero chance of winning but a world champion not even getting on the nomination list is disgraceful.

  9. It's dominated by the Olympics. A few X Factor stories there tho: Skelton 58 and out of retirement to win in a 6-way jump off; Murray winning Wimbledon, Gold and ending No1 (when was the last time?); The gymnast winning first men's gold; Trott becoming most successful woman cyclist in history; farah falling over and still winning.

Think Byrne should have been in the given record breaking but....it's only a British championship at end of the day. So alongside some of those achievements, cold light of day Rae isn't anywhere close really. :)

  10. As a bike fan I wouldn't have put any bike people in.
That said I wouldn't have put any football players in either.
As a general sporting person it should be either Max Whitlock or Brownlee on sheer work and effort alone . ( in my opinion )

  11. Not sure what its about tho. Is it achievement alone, or inspiration and other work? I'd imagine Skelton has done loads over the years to increase the profile off his sport as well as bring on younger talent.

  12. Couldn't agree more , please enlighten me who they are and what they have done ?

  13. It's a BBC awards programme and it's mainly about people who have appeared on sports programmes broadcast by the BBC. Sports which the BBC don't show rarely come into it.

  14. Good point. I found it intriguing that on Sun night they had loads of Dancing updates on their website and yet nothing about the G going out of X factor.

  15. Weve got 12 or 13 boxing world champions too and none of them made the list either. Its all politics and this annual fume a thon over who was and wasnt nominated only gives them an excuse to do one next year.

  16. Chris Froome didn't make the SPOTY list either. Winning the Tour de France for the third time, Olympic bronze and second in La Vuelta for the third time isn't good enough apparently. I suspect that even if he'd won Olympic gold and the Vuelta he wouldn't have made the list.
