  1. Needing a new one, got an Odessey in the carby, but are there any decent replacements that are less money?
    What do you have?

  2. fitted a motobatt to my carbie a couple of years ago still going strong, but just noticed so are the prices!! (blimey!) IIRC at the time mine was forty odd quid. The dimensions are slightly different to standard so I replaced the standard OE rubber boot thingy with some thinner rubber.

  3. Yuasa from mds batteries.

  4. Best battery and less money are words that don't go together, it is a case of either not both.

  5. The reliable, sensible option is a Yuasa but make sure you get an AGM type as they have much more starting oomph than bog standard lead acid ones.
Don't forget to team it up with a starting cable kit from @Exige on here to get really urgent, on the button starting.

  6. fitted a mottobatt to mine great battery for turning the engine over
although mine did split and spill it guts luckily it wasn't on the bike
after looking up on the net there seems to be an issue with these splitting for some reason

  7. Mottobatt seem to be the fave, thanks.

  8. Due to the splitting mentioned above? :Wideyed:

  9. I had motobatt on way out after 18months, kept indoors in winter etc.
Changed to yuasa and they start fading after 2-3yrs. They are the best for the money tho imho.

  10. Motobatt and Yuasa AGM both use AGM technology, so both deliver similar performance.
Both are similar in price, although Yuasa are made in Wales and Motobatt probably in China, so may be the exchange rate has affected that.
Yuasa have a much better general reputation for reliability, although some swear by Motobatt.
Choice is yours but for real cranking performance you will need to get some of Exige's cables.

  12. Will look at Yuasa too, you have reminded me to look at cables, but I'll make my own, got all the bits. Thanks

  13. The Yuasa turned mine over the best but I could not resist a lithium. 2.5kg off the top of the bike

  14. Yes, can certainly see the appeal. The technology just doesn't seem quite mature yet though...

  15. Yes, somoene told me a theory about them that I have taken on board. In principle at least. I think it was Richard at Louigi.

He said they flatter to deceive, because the initial burst of energy is greater than normal batteries. But they do not have the stamina to keep turning the motor with the same force as normal batteries after a few seconds. So if your bike is a funny starter, lithium can be a problem.

So I ignored him and got a lithium one.

  16. I wouldn't have expected anything less Rich

  17. I run a shorai lithium. it hits so hard it starts almost instantly...at freezing temps....with FCRs....I have very quick hands

  18. Whos a good supplier of Shoeai and whats the part number for the standard fitment?

  19. IN the states revzilla batterymart many others. I don't know about the UK. part #lfx18lbs12. don't buy the optional smaller 14 amp one if you want to startup in the winter

  20. Mmm, only one I fou d was nearly 200 quid!
