Mts 1200 Gear Indicator

  1. Hi All.

After riding through torrential rain on the way back from BSB at Brands my neutral light went awol. Now the gear position indicator lies about which gear i am in. Not a major problem, but a pita as i cannot let the bike idle with the side stand down as the gear selector brain will not acknowledge the existence of neutral. I imagined the wiring might have corroded in the downpours, so what do i clean up?

Many thanks in advance as usuual

  2. Apart from the sensor itself, which should be waterproof, there is a small 4-pin connector to loom tucked in among various others ahead of the battery.

  3. Thanks Derek.

Is that to be found at battery level or nearer sump level?

  4. According to the manual it is up near the battery. I will have a look at mine to confirm.

  5. is that an online manual?

  6. It's a manual that I downloaded a few years ago.
Here is a picture of the connector on my bike (it looks horribly grimey). It is tucked in front of the battery near to the negative terminal.

  7. Many thanks , although I cannot imagine that area was affected by water ingress? I will give it a clean and see what happens.
