In that case, probably better not to pick a quarrel with the dealer after he has stripped yours down and he has still got his hands on your defective parts.
hate these scenarios in the workshop. is it it this?, is it that?. to find out its gonna cost you a fortune, then possibly another fortune to fix it, then if it comes to a rebuild, most independents will take a hit on the labour because you cant charge all the time out, is the customer gonna play his or her part in the warranty?, are you gonna be held responsible for a life time?. nightmare.
bike back , labour and oils paid for by me, saw barrels briefly , mech said ring gaps were out of spec, so ducati replaced barrels, pistons, rings under goodwill. now 600 mile of urban mode running in. been valeted and looks like a new bike again, chris ,west sussex
That's good news; or reasonably good news at any rate. For a bike out of warranty, goodwill on the parts and you paying labour is probably the best deal you could get. If the bike is now running perfectly you must be very pleased. It seems those of us who guessed the problems centred around the piston rings got it right.
Yes, thanks for supporting reasonings, first ride tomorrow, bike was. Valeted very well and 600 mile service is free, so not bad in the end, just a bit surprised at low mileage problem, although old Guzzi 1100 sport was a grenade in comparison
You guys who posted tips about piston rings got close, but I'd have put money on post #6 being most likely, an excellent and universal solution:Wideyed_O
Took bike out for 100 miles, really smooth in urban mode, also asking ducati Italy cust services reasons behind Abnormal wear, fingers crossed, Chris
