Hi Blink, bought mine privately too. It's a 2001 year UK bike with 11000 miles and all history in mint condition. Haggled too!
I hope you all had a good Chrismas and Boxing day. I finally got the chance to get out in the Garage late last night and drop the oil, all good no chrome on the Mag plug or the long Strainer/filter. From what I can see going through the paper work the oil has only done 1k miles in ten years. The Headlamps came up like new but it does need a set of rear pads, the front are less than half worn. The original owner must have been a heavey rear brake user. The belts were (for the only time) changed in 2006! buy a Indi in Barnet. they look ok,( I only ran it once) the belt covers had had all the bolts copper greased on replacement so as I pulled them out I was thinking nice to see a company that takes care. I was expecting to see a nice new nut on the cam tentioner but was very saddened to see the original nut refitted and completely chewed up (very very poor work). As they charged £300. The last owner was telling me they were a good bunch of chaps.I had left the phone indoors or I would have taken a Photo. Thats the thing about buying a bike with 7k on the clock and spent most its life parked in a office and only having one Service in its life. The chain needs adjusting I will do that this morning. I Ran a google search on Baines at Silverstone, Have they turned into a pushbike company? I was going to talk prices to do the cams belts and adjust the tappets. Many thanks. Martin
Baines do push bikes these days but I think they still do some Ducati's. Or, go a little further and go to Cornerspeed.
They sell bicycles and cycling stuff but is also a Ducati garage they just don't sell motorcycle or leathers etc. Really nice guy and very helpful. My 996 went there last December and needed 2 new rockers so he told me which ones, somebody on here sold me them both and I had posted straight to him.
If you want rid of the carbon ones, why not do a dal with cash your way for someone who wants to replace them IMHO I'd keep the carbon ones, its a bit of detail thats improved
These Pictures are of the bike from the advert. The Carbon Exhaust cover is unusal what would normally be in its place? are the foot pegs good ones? I have now fitted the original pegs is the clutch cover a Ducati part as it says Ducati on it ?. I am keen on making this bike standard again . Thanks. Martin
I don't think the side body work is standard either mate, sps's didn't have belly pans from standard only the R's. The exhaust plate looks right, as that's the same on mine. Those foot pegs look like ducati performance ones there cracking pegs.
Looks like an aftermarket steering damper as well. Steve All the extras are improvements in my opinion and are worth keeping on the bike.
What they said ^^^^ although can't remember but fairly certain standard foot guards were the silver ones that all came with. The cabon look nicer Is it an ohlins damper? Should be.
Ohlins damper was al years, it's the forks I'm not sure about. I was certain they only have ohlins on R versions and all SPS had Showa, the later ones be nitride coated while the earlier ones (like my old one) had std Showa but 65mm P4 calipers
Fairings are definitely not the correct ones. Pegs are aftermarket, looks like a direct race shift too.
