Well Chaps, a very bad garage day this morning. The bike was about two feet up on the lift with the paddock stand at the back though the sprocket side, I was just putting it back together for the MOT tomorrow, when it slid off the short sub on the paddock stand!! I almost caught it but it was just too heavy. So my lovely new toy fell and smashed the immaculate original fairing I had just refitted. It also broke the screen and right hand mirror and the bar that holds the mirror also the master cylinder, But thankfully not the tank. I have never dropped a bike before, it is gut wrenching to see your pride and joy on its side on the deck. Does any one have a fairing and bits for sale? Thanks. Martin.
Sorry to hear about this but we've all done something similar. Anyway thread moved to the correct section and title amended too. Hopefully that will help.
What a shitter! On the plus side, my missus found a fiver today and the only thing she wanted was discounted and available in her size
Really Sorry to hear Martin, my only spare nosecone is a heavily repaired one. Last time I had a good hunt for one around a year ago I came to the conclusion that I might as well stump up for a new quality carbonfibre one as the immaculate s/h O.E.M. ones that I could find were so expensive. Hope you get lucky and find one anyway.
May even be worth trying a few calls to some dealers, JHP, Motorapido, Snells, you never know what they have tucked away sometimes And its not specific to SPS so any red will do; biggest issue will be colour matching.
Prices varied so much it was really difficult to come up with a set price. Also difficult to confirm paint was undamaged and as already said, despite taking the most trouble this didn't guarantee it would match your own paint as red is the most affected colour when it comes to fading by sunlight. A good OEM panel with average to "very good" paint was around 150 to 200 even back then. I had a quick look earlier and they seem even scarcer now, if you just keep scouring the adverts (in all the EBays!) you might just get lucky though. I found most of my best panels on the German site.
Thank you Ayrton, My bike was so immaculate I had to buy a new one £ 420 for the fairing and £120 for the screen from Ducati. But thank you. Blink.
My original Ducati paddock stand (suppled with the SPS from new) now has a long bolt through the centre of the axel. The stand has the tread in the stub from new. But thank you. Blink.
