Rearsets For 600ss?

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  1. The race ones (which I have used and are fine of a little basic) don't have a rear brake switch provision so you'd have to work something out

  2. Thanks both,
    Really helpful

  3. Goodridge do a brake light banjo bolt that's perfect if your fitting these type of pegs.

  4. Or go trick and change to a thumb brake ;)

  5. That would indeed be trick! Not sure I could sort out the hand / finger coordination although my mountain bike has brake and gear change levers side by side. Prices look a little prohibitive!

  6. You can use the same rear frame as 916 and make a lever. I can't but some can lol

  7. Okay so I bought the SES ones. The gear lever fitted perfectly, but I can't get the brake lever to fit.

Hopefully the attached photos show the difference between the original footrest and the SES rearset. Essentially the plunger into the master cylinder would need to be approx. 1.5cm shorter to allow the lever to be in the right place. Even then the alignment of the plunger looks wrong.

I've been in discussion with and sent some photos to SES and they can't understand why it doesn't fit as they have never had a problem before. I don't think there are different versions of master cylinder on the SS600 and I'm sure mine is the original. I can't help thinking they have sent me the wrong footrest!

Thought I would ask on here as you all seem very knowledgeable!

    Thanks
    Neil

  8. They look nice.

As you say the plunger needs to be shorter and it will sit at a better angle.

I'm not that far from you, near Petersfield, so if there is anything I can do in my Lathe to help let me know.

  9. Thanks, that's the problem. How can I get the plunger to go further into the master cylinder so that it aligns better and the lever is further down so I can put my foot on it without taking my foot off the footpeg??
Sorry if this is a stupid question!

  10. 2 questions:
I assume there is no more adjustment?
Have you tried them with the lever like that? Remember your further forward and higher so may be ok.

  11. Sorry I edited my post whilst you were quoting it as I noticed you'd already figured out what I'd said.

If there is no more adjustment on the plunger you might need the services of a lathe, which I happen to have in my garage.

  12. Thanks bradders and Nasher. Yes tried last weekend and the lever is too high and there is no more adjustment to make the plunger shorter.
It seems odd that they haven't had any previous problems which makes me wonder whether I did get sent a different model. Helpful to know I'm not missing anything obvious (like having them upside down!).
I'll let you know whether SES come up with an answer.
    Thanks again
    Neil
agree the do look much nicer than the originals!

  13. Take up Nashers offer, make a new friend, and buy another from Ebay for when you want to pit back to standard. everyone a winner :upyeah:

  14. Thanks, I'm sure I will and really appreciate Nasher's offer.
    Cheers

  15. Well it is all sorted! Justin Bisset at SES has been really helpful and they have made me a shorter plunger. Thanks again to @Nasher for his kind offer to help - really appreciated. Here are the finished products
    Cheers

  16. Just an FYI , I too had the same issue a few years back (both sets of rear sets in your original post require the same) I just too the push rod out, chopped about 5mm off the end and put it back without the lock nut never had an issue :)

  17. Thanks, I sent the original footrest to SES for them to measure so in future the kit will include a shorter pushrod. My photos are now on their eBay page! (they did ask)

  18. Hi Neil...I've just picked up some SES rear sets for my 900SS. No problem with the plunger for the master cylinder, so they must have altered their specs due to your experience. I'm intrigued how you've wired in the rear brake light banjo pressure switch. Did you leave the OE connectors intact and chop off the wiring at the original rear light switch (the wiring attached to the original footrest)? Or did you disconnect the OE rear light switch wire completely, chop off the top most connector and wire the new banjo pressure switch to that wiring? As you might have guessed, wiring isn't my forte, so I don't want to bugger it up! Hope this question makes sense :)
