Hi Steve, I hope you don't mind the enquiry and me picking your brains. Just brought a 899 panigale and would like to invest in a Matt carbon Fibre exhaust heat shield. I currently have a Ducati performance carbon rear hugger and chain guard. Therefore I would like a Matt carbon heat shield to match. I've heard that there are a lot of cheap heat shields currently on the market that melt, discolour or burn. A forum member has recommended that I contact you. Are you able to reccomend a heatshield that will suit my needs please? Kind regards Danny
Hi Danny, Thanks for getting in touch. We are the sole U.K. Distributors for Fullsix carbon which are the shields we sell. Their carbon is an exact match for DP carbon weave so it'll match perfectly. Regards discolouration, due to the massive heat retained but the standard headers discolouration is possible however as the 899 runs cooler than the 1199 the risks are much less. When you see Akra & Termi exhausts with carbon covers many ask why they don't discolour and the reason is because the exhausts are wider in diameter and thinner therefore heat is quickly dissipated enough to not affect the carbon. You got to remember carbon is one of the most conducive elements and that also goes for heat. You could risk it which customers have and they've had no problems or you can do several things to prevent discolouration. 1, have your header/s ceramic coated 2, wrap your exhaust 3, fit the cover over your existing metal guard under the plastic cover.
