Jumped on the multi and it won't rev over 4500-5000 revs. All I've done is wash it! Exhaust valve stuck maybe?
With torch looking in exhaust pipe, turn power on but do not start. You should see the exhaust valve cycle one time if it works open/closed/open. I forgot which pipe you can see the valve but you'll figure that out.
Got it sorted about 5 mins later. Took exhaust guard off which was covering valve and free'd it up. Was completely covered in crap. Bit of a rubbish design having it on top for all the dirt to sit on and can't get to it to jet wash and lube it. Panic over anyway and I had a good blast on the mucky roads
If it's under warranty they'll replace the midsection. You can't leave the pull wire off as the engine light will stay on (unlike earlier Multis the dvt can bus is different). Had mine replaced last year but will.likely happen again
Same happened to my 10,000 mile DVT the other week on the way to the dealers to get the heated grips replaced! The dealer freed it off and put in a warranty claim with Ducati which was approved, but they did mention that Ducati don't always cover this warranty (seems odd to me given the crap design).
Second ride AND IT WONT GO!! :rage: Even though I cleaned and scrubbed and lubed the valve, 10 miles from home it's stuck again!! Free'd it up but then was intermittent for the rest of the day which was interesting on overtakes! I think I might just disconnect the cable so it thinks it's still there but stays open
I have a 2012 and yet to ride it. Seems this is a known problem what have Ducati dealers done about it? Regards Steve
You'll need to report and and get the section changed under warranty. Had mine changed at the end of last year. Trouble is the new bit hasn't been modded so will likely happen again and out of warranty! Oh by the way these bikes need to be ridden or brakes, exhaust butterfly valve and steering lock seize up. I mean come on its the 21st century FFS. No Japanese bike has presented such problems to me until much higher miles / all weather riding. These beasts are fragile.
My BMW RT has an exhaust flapper. It is mounted horizontally, no problem 20k miles. But my mutley is OK also at 11k.
