Hi Bought some R&G crash bobbins, struggling to remove the steel LHS engine mounting bung/plug. Solid any help out there??
Ducatiomaha 2016 multistrada1200s by Ducati Omaha - issuu Take a look at drawing 022 (page 94). Does this help?
thanks the manual download helps for future. but doesn't show how to remove engine mounting plug so I can get access to the cap head screw for fitting crash bobbins
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by the "engine mounting plug". What component are you referring to? I have fitted crash bungs to both 2010-14 and DVT Multistradas, and have found no problem.
Fitted R&G to my dvt too, there are no rubber bungs on the engine mounting rod as I recall, just a nylock nut on the end of an Allen keyed bolt! I'm intrigued to understand the issue
it is the plug on the long engine mount bolt that you remove to swop with the R&G kit. Right hand side is plastic, the left hand side is steel, the steel one will not budge so unable to get to the allen screw
Still mystified by your post. Can you post a photo of the component which you say is a problem? Can you identify the part number of this component from the parts list?
That is an aftermarket frame bung and nothing to do with the engine mounting bolt. Just a bit of bling to cover the engine bolt and fill the frame, something like this frame bungs ducati multistrada - Google Search Andy
The item in your photo is not a standard Ducati part, @Adrian Callum . It is just something which somebody (presumably a previous owner) has inserted, perhaps as a decoration. I'm guessing it is probably aluminium alloy, not steel. It may have become seized or corroded in place, in which case you will need to lever, drill, file, or saw it out somehow before you can proceed with your (very sensible) crash bung installation. Doesn't matter if you destroy it, as it's scrap anyway. Good luck.
