hello knowledgeable folk, I need your help again! I need a laptop.. Max budget £400.00 usage general surfing, getting on here, ebay an stuff. Want something fast and reliable. Was looking at an hp Pavilion in pc world 8 gb ram and 1k storage for £380.00 but they were sold out. Do I need 8 gb ram if it has a quad core processor? I know about as much about computers as I do rectifiers, 0... Advice and links greatly appreciated, I'm sick of using my phone for everything! keep it simple too, you know who ya dealing with!
Year before last I bought a chromebook, I don't store a lot, keep pictures or documents on it but use it mostly for internet use. It has google docs on it and like apple, claims not to need security. It starts in seconds, rarely had a problem, it's fast and any items I do have to store, I use a external 1tb hard drive to download stuff to. The newer chromebook 2's are about £250, just an idea Toshiba Chromebook 2 review | TrustedReviews
I don't own a tablet as I'd never be off it and I don't want it to dominate my life. If I want to use the computer, I have to go into the room that it's in to use it.
Would a kindle do the job? I can do all your asking for on mine I bought a netbook years back and hardly use it due to crap battery My iPhone does all I need too
I want something with a good size screen and a keyboard. My limited experience with a tablet ended badly for the tablet and I had to buy a new toaster...
what about this? Buy HP 15.6 Inch AMD A9 8GB 1TB Laptop - Silver at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Laptops and netbooks, Laptops and PCs, Technology. don't know why its cheaper than the pavilion yet appears to have the same spec. Cheaper processer? It's got a gen 6 amd or some shit like that...
Will your little chubby fingers hit just one button on that? Your gonna need a bigger keyboard :Wideyed:
unfortunately you can't seem to get a 4 foot keyboard and a 15 inch screen.. I will have to adapt :Wideyed: but this banter ain't helping. If ya not part of the solution etc ect...
You have been waiting years for me to make that mistake and you broke the forum with your devilment :Wideyed:
For what you're using it for (about the same as me) why not buy used? I bought a refurbished Dell E6420 just before Christmas for £265 from a local independent. Its got an Intel Core i5-2520m processor (whatever..), 8 gb ram and it runs Windows 10 Professional which comes with Publisher already loaded which is great for me because I use it for letterheads, cards and general business stationary. 14" so compact if a little chunky and heavy but on the other hand its tough and well made. I probably could have got a refurbed cheaper than that but its good value for the spec and more powerful than I'll ever need.
have just been looking on a few sites at refurbs. The hp one at Argos is cheaper than the same refurbed! Unfortunately its outa stock...looked at Tesco's and curry's today and the one's I wanted were also outa stock...
