I'm more of a Roadkill/Elderly Iron viewer nowadays, but Edd China was the reason I watched WD on occasion. He never came across as anything but genuine, and his reasons for leaving show that he has principles. Good on you,Edd,you'll be missed, but I'm sure you'll be back on screen soon.
I love that show, and Edd is the reason why. All things must end, he's doing it for the right reason.
Just watched his video explaining the reasons why, good on him. As mentioned, a spin off will be easily sorted as it's generally Edd that leads most of the show so all he needs is a chirpy little used car salesman......plenty of them about
no doubt he is talented and multi skilled. but watching him work does my head in. why did he quite? no money even tho he still makes £437 profit before paying for his 20hrs labour? greedy sod.
Production company appear to want to reduce costs and the workshop coverage being the longest part of the process is the easiest to cut back on. I'd happily sack Mike Brewer instead. Andy
yip. i would agree with that. well out of his warranty period. the people i know that enjoy the show say the same and rate edd. he's deffo made my job harder tho. f.sake fin, 3hrs for a timing belt when edd's just rebuild an AC.Cobra in 20mins and still turned a profit. yah robbing .......
he seems no different to any Yorkshire dweller i have come to know. well, not totally true. i like edd. :Angelic:
funny how it seems that the septics will throw bundles of wedge at clarkson, et al, but look to strip WD down ? maybe I'm just generalising, or is it that there seems to be a preference ofr something a bit more "dumbed-down" over there?
sorry Finm - was trying to make an oscure point of the stereotyped Scotsperson being tight, but using another stereotype of the yorkshireman instead... I'll get me coat.
sad loss to the show cant wait to see Ed pop up in a new venture as for Mike Brewer nauseating and the show would be better without him
Wheeler dealers is good - bit of an institution....but i would say, most people would watch, think they can do it then realize they dont have a full spread of snap on tools, a hydraulic ramp, welding tools etc etc. And then when they make "a monkey" on the car theyve just done up, discount the hours and hours of work (thats non chargeable) and factor that in...i think if it were real world they'd've gone bust years ago! As i say for content, great program and yes Edd China seems to be to be a pretty good bloke - look forward to seeing more from him.
The telling phrase in Edd Cina's video for me is that Velocity (whoever they are) found it too difficult to produce the programme in the same format that a small UK production team have been churning out since 2002 without any problem. The other telling issue is "product placement". Clearly an internationally successful programme is an advertising gold mine but strangely I recall very little direct product or service advertising during the programme in the UK. Andy
Also the penny has just dropped, the Discovery Channel. Clearly need to make up the income they lost when Sky et al refused their demands for Eurosport. Andy
He'll be back in a YouTube or Amazon sponsored show fairly soon. Can't stand the show but best of luck to him after sticking two fingers up at the cost cutters
Met the guy a couple of times when's he owned Confy Banana agency. Interesting chap, lots to say and lots to say about himself and how great he is. Typical posh arrogant fella.
