Bl00dy Superglue !!.............just spent 20 minutes trying to get my thumb unstuck from a tube of superglue that had dribbled down the side, I hate this stuff!! Is there any common household substance that can be used to undo this stuff???? Can't even open my I-phone quickly now as its obliterated my thumbprint ...grrrrrrr !!!
although a lot of nail polish remover is acetone free these days (I found out when trying to help my youngest to unglue part of an airfix model he got a bit wrong).
Bite it off. Man up. Hehe Isopropyl alcohol is what you need. Every garage should have a bottle. Buy it from Chemist. Its cheap. Wifeys get very protective of varnish remover as I know full well.
Hobbycraft used to sell this 'sure drop' superglue. Two yellow buttons on the sides. The press together and out comes one drop. Brilliant stuff and the end never crusted up with wastage. Not seen it in there for years though. Check every time the missus goes in there.
Although the effects aren't immediate, even water will help break down the bonding on most cyanoacrylate glues.
I remember seeing a documentary about the US medics in Vietnam using Superglue to close wounds quickly at the battlefront when picking the wounded up in helicopters,....its certainly good at sticking skin together!!
Medical grade superglue is used these days instead of stitching up smaller wounds in A&E and at the side of the sports field, particularly with kids who might be a little unhappy with the stitching. It was at least 10years ago that my eldest son split his forehead open above his eye during a school rugby match, the attendant medic glued it together and he went back on the pitch rather than us spend 4hrs queuing up in A&E. Nasher.
Sandpaper no good, ..the actual tube was stuck to my thumb, I needed something to break down the glue bond to get the tube off. Almost tore my thumbprint off,...aarrgghhh!!
