HA, please do explain whats confusing? I am curious to know what you dont understand. when I brake hard at high speed I feel vibrations, nothing confusion about that. I changed my pads, cleaned my calipers and discs, still feel vibrations, still not rocket science. Lol I even drew a damn pictures in Paint so you see what and how the brake disc was measured And you really ask that question after you see in my original text that it was edited AND after I posted a sperate post that states I edited my previous post.
Yihaa!! short after my purchase I experienced specific high speed vibrations, only at medium to hard braking. But now all is good and I've fallen in love again with this beast of a motorcycle... The cause was a damaged right disc brake. The mechanic saw a little dent in the midsection of the disc... and also some scratches on the big nut of the front wheel assembly, the bike seems to have expereinced a fall or something I guess. The new high end Oro Brembo discs: Now I have a spare OEM left side disc up for sale, 12.000km: If anybody is interesred or knows somebody who is, shoot. I heard Ducati asks silly prices for their OEM Brembo's...
At the risk of showing I'm an idiot, what are 'the bobbins'? By the way (in the spirit of trying to understand rather than being smart) someone mentioned discs and rotors as if they were different to each other. I thought discs were made up of components inc rotors, calipers and pads, as opposed to discs and rotors being different to each other....?
Glad you fixed it, as regards above it's more often the other way round i.e. - more likely at higher speeds. A warped disc can be a freak occurrence but one thing that can be done to help prevent this is to remember to never leave brakes applied at stationary for a long period immediately after sustained use at high speed (downhill for example) where disc have become very/abnormally hot.
So it ended up being damaged disc rather than a warped one. Bobbins are the buttons that fix the disc (or rotor, same thing) to the carrier. Or its a slang term for rubbish
This entire thread amounts to: A brake disc got damaged causing vibrations, new disc was fitted which cured the problem. End of story. So why all the drama, histrionics, accusations, denials, hissy fits? Was it just to keep us all amused?
Definition of simplification right there! If I knew what I knew at the time, I wouldn't have undergone the lengthy process of finding out what the hell the issue was. As is the case with almost every issue that occurs. You can shut down 90% of the topics on this and every other motorcycle, car, mechanical board. Whats the point of a board. Also, if the initial dealer did his fucking job as stated by the extended warranty terms, I wouldn't have had the issue/this topic in the first place because it would've been discovered and fixed! Drama, my ass.
lol indeed, my bad was on my smartphone + on a bbq on a dull moment when I encountered that post wich I had to reply on
