Hi all, just purchased a 2015 1200s dvt that was a one owner and by the looks of it a very careful one at that , it's mint. After having a quick go the other night i noticed he had the touring mode on with low power and maxed out wheelie and traction on . For my first go at getting used to her it was fine but now i have changed the setting to sport ,high power ,track, single rider etc and it pulls well sought of ok ,having owned a 999s and a 1098s i really wanted to feel the balls out banzai of the v twin but its flat. It gets to about 3000rpm and chugs a bit then 6000rpm and feels like its run out of wind, after full twisting the grip i can only just get to triple figures(closed track of course) . Is this the dreaded curse of the exhaust valve or something more sinister? All help is greatly accepted on this fantastic machine, cheers
Cheers guys , will have to have a look tomorrow . Must admit I am very impressed so far with the handling for a big girl and its a bloody comfy ride. Just come off a speed triple so the feeling of my head not flapping about is great. Saw quite a few over at the tt and I thought they tramped on a bit over the mountain so had to have one
Thanx to all ,it was indeed the exhaust valve . It was rusted tighter than a Yorkshire man's wallet . All sorted now Mr .dewalt has done his thing and now is butterfly less . I dog my cap to you fine gents .
Was lucky enough yesterday to be able to abuse the now closed Raf coltishall Perry track and runway, and the DVT flew passed a sat nav speed of 150, and was still pulling well, I was quite impressed, although the cross winds yesterday were a bit hair raising. This was with panniers and a bag bungied to back seat as I was visiting mates. I hit an indicated 123 in 3rd and 140 plus in 4th, was a bit of a giggle
The 3rd and 4th gears were indicated on the speedo but near the end of the runway I saw 150 plus on the Garmin , did you run yours in for specified 1500 miles?
If your out for a blast in the south anytime, more than welcome to to try mine, it's boggo except for butterfly out, or do a side by side roll on etc ? 123 and 142 indicated 3rd and 4th I saw, just to give you a guide
Went on an autobahn with the wife a few years back, Full S GT luggage for our 2 week trip, I have a garmin zomo, the bike speedo read 149mph before we ran out on autobahn that didn't have road works on but the sat nav stopped showing my speed at 105mph and always has, not sure if there's a setting for this? Now I know I've been faster than this but I'm not going to say when and by how much but I had to back off because my Arai Tour-X 4 started to suck off my head and I couldn't see. Given the right build up i.e. cane it from gear one and these bike are flying machines imho.
