1200 DVT 2 Recalls Rear Shock + Fuel Tank - Safety Issues!! Old News!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Riko, Jul 2, 2017.

  1. Thats my so called new dealer with a better rep than the first :)

And thats not the full answer actually, I was being polite by hiding his full answer, but now, fuck it.

His full reply: Eric, I'm not gonna respond to every gossip that goes around on the internet, no Ducati doesnt have a recall for that issue.
If its a safety issue, you will...blalbla (what I posted above)

I said, it comes from FEMA, a European safety institution.
    LOL

He than simply replied to that with: 'its only for the enduro'

I begin to hate those official dealers man...
Problem is, for a technological complex bike like ours your kinda bound to them (electronics, suspension, Desmotronic)

But okay, I aint too bothered with his answer atm, because I can check the link myself and see for myself wich recalls are open..or perhaps gonna be open in the near future.
Or, as he said, if I receive a letter.

Just to compare, I'm gonna do something i never thought I would, contact the Duc dealer thats the closest to me....I ignored him because he has a rep of being overly expensive...
Want to see what he has to say about the new recall..

  2. Well, the check suggested it was up to date as at today. Ducati will have to supply affected VINs (if it's like cars) in the U.K. For vosa or where're manages them in the U.K.

  3. Which now sounds less than a bullshit answer, i.e. Qualifying why he does not respond to everything as well as what the known product issue or :upyeah:

  4. 2016 Pikes Peak here, checked the website and my bike is clear.

  5. Just had a little panic reading this, currently in Italy with the wife with fully loaded panniers and top box and although my wife is only 9st I a bit of a 6ft 4 porker!!! Checked and luckily no recall so I can breath again!!!

  6. guys, the issu has been released on that specific website just this week, week 26 as you can read, so nothing has been officially released by Ducati themselves, it could take some time, so I wouldn't say you're off the hook, yet imo..

  7. You're a real ray of sunshine aren't you

  8. you have no idea..:sun::beer::party:

    :kissing_heart:

On a serious note, what do you expect me to say: okay, its alright, no recall will come just one day after I saw the bulletin on FEMA?
    And its sunday.

    https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/cons...868/17&exclude_search_term=0&search_year=2017

    Alert submitted by Germany.
Products were found and measures were taken also in Croatia.

Only one country in the EU took measures, I wanna be a ray of sunshine and say we're off the hook...but can you say that already now for 100%

  9. How do you know?

  10. It would be funny to get a recall. Only had it 48 hours :D

  11. FEMA - they are like MAG or BMF for the Euro biker aren't they? Wonder how many cases and when and what model.

  12. i can ask exactly the same question to the others thinking there will be no recall

guys, the message was send this week, how long does it take to organise a world wide recall for all owners?

I'm just saying, wait a bit before jumping to conclusions.

  13. So, now you have a couple of people either going on tour or already on tour scared shitless they are riding a bike that's about to collapse based on info from a European bike club who trawl the EU site for recall notices. Which, looking at the paperwork, is based on a case in Germany (1 or 100? Looks like 1) and a picture from Croatia or somewhere.

When actually it may affect all, or as likely none, U.K. Bikes.

See where I'm coming from?! It's like being the first to break news in Facebook that a celeb has died or something... where's the 'shakes head' emoji

  15. The shock recall is for Enduro only and was issued by Ducati themselves early May. Fuel tank is even older, mid March, affecting a small number of MTS 950/1200.
They were EU wide so the information from the German website is far from complete. It's "old news" and with little detail on affected bikes.
The dealer network gets a heads up before the recalls go public. In the UK, if it's safety related, then VOSA will be involved and the affected bikes owners get a letter.
If you're struggling to get a straight answer as to whether your bike is affected, drop me a pm with your VIN and i'll check for you.

Sorry to cause panic, I was just sharing what I have seen on one of the Multistrada facebook groups.
Seeing it came from a well organised and established institution, it seemed informative to share on the board for us DVT owners...

    I'll think about it, sunshine

  18. So bunch of fellas in a private club with no actual power for anything.

Sounds almost like a Tory Party front bench :joy:

  19. Well here's a eye opener ....

Rang the local Ducati dealer to enquire about the side stand recall as the web site only listed that. But, according to them there's 4 recalls listed against the bike. Side stand, something to do with the fuel pump, throttle tube and an ECU update. Looks like they are going to have it in for a week !!

  20. no power, why would they need any power?
they seem to have an informative function in the first place.

BTW your BMF and MAG uk are too one of the founding members of FEMA.
I think one of the main reasons they exist is to centralise issues and faults European owners have on their bikes and to have a broader view.
Might be easier to see if its issolated or a more widespread production fault.

Again, do what you want with the info.
    I just shared the info.
