How Music Tastes Change.. And You?

  1. I can remember many years ago now when in my late teens I was heavily into Led Zepp, and Thin Lizzie etc and how I detested bands like the sex pistols and a bit later on the stone roses but now all these years on I can't get enough of them.. even Bowie, couldn't stand the guy, but last five years or so realised just how good he was, way ahead of his time, Marc Bolan too...

Weird or what... have you found that too.. ?

  2. In my teens, I had a very narrow interest in music. It was Progressive Rock or it was nothing at all.

Over the years, I have added genre after genre to my list of likes, to the extent where there is virtually no type of music in which I cannot find something to enjoy. Although the pickings are slim in bluegrass and country & western, if I am honest.

Interestingly, there's no kind music that I have lost interest in. My changes in taste all seem to be additive.

Does anyone have a genre of music they loved when they were younger and dislike now?

  3. its that live v recorded thing again. punk, 2 tone. pretty much anything that would of been described as pop from the seventies to now. but live completely different. seen the selector and the stranglers recently, superb. Michal Jackson one of the best gigs to date. Bowie is a recent thing for me too. generally it's the vocals first music second. primarily rock orientated if that makes any sense. fredy mecrury, Skin, Harriet Wheeler, Dio, Guy Garvey, Josh Homme, Scot mackenzi though that tune was driving me bonkers the other night and many many more.

  4. AC/DC are another which I like now..

There's a show I download every week via the BBC radio player.. it's from BBC radio Solent .. called the stereo underground..
it's all imdi type music and boy what a great 2hrs that is.. no adverts just great stuff.. I can't recommend it enough..

  5. thats the prob, too much choice for me to choose. R.Scotland from 6.30-9 weekdays with several shows a week after 9 superb. let them chose. i was listening to 40years of the damned driving up the road the other nite, hated them back in the day. but like quite a few of their tunes now. which reminds me of a base player i kind of knew in aberdoom, he played with captain sensible on "happy talk" he was offered either the session fee or a share of the royalties. he took the session fee.
    Doh.

  7. It's like Shaun Ryder and his Mondays, he said they were fleeced and made nothing from their hits, but black grape is where he made his cash, well, before it went up his nose..

What made me laugh was seeing on peter Kay's car share a signpost in Manchester pointing out the Shaun Ryder rehab centre... lol
