  2. It's a shame is black art of dry clutches will die out, i quite like playing with them in a perverse sort of way.

  4. I think it's 'cos we both work in IT which is very virtual, where a clutch is very mechanical, you can see exactly how it all fits together. And i'm sad too.

  5. Yep.....ive spent my morning setting up a secure network and currently loosing the will to live in group policy settings....its only by the grace of god weve got an unmetered adsl line thats off my boss's radar (everyone goes out through the corporate internet appliance) that we all connect through....its tucked away in the comms cabinet behind some other stuff....its been there for a few years but i think the game is going to be up soon...although he's snowed under with work so have to see what happens...

On the plus side its supermoto tyre changing tomorrow...!

  6. The dry clutch is brilliant for experimenting with.
I use an electric screwdriver on the cover and spring bolts and two strong magnets on the plates, so I can dismantle and reassemble it in a few minutes.

  7. Thank you @RickyX , new slave fitted and clutch plates removed and refitted, result softer clutch, quiter when disengaged and no more drag :) all in all very productive.

  10. I was dreading doing the clutch thing thought it was going to be complicated but I have to agree with @Cream_Revenge & @comfysofa and I found it quite theraputic.
I am now thinking of going down the route of a slipper clutch for the streetfighter, the Ducabike one looks reasonable cost wise but are they any good, anyone have any recomendations?

  11. I fitted a DucaBike to my 999. Works very sweet and a super light clutch. Took some pissing about to get the stack height correct. Also had to buy a new set of alloy friction plates off eBay for £50 as OEM were steel.

  12. Get one that uses the lifter system.... A bit less maintenance than the ball bearing system (which I've got).

  13. How do I know which is which.

  14. Well... Firstly ask as they may not know or know to tell you but when the inner comes away from the outer mine has some ball bearings in it that when servicing you kinda hold them in with grease. The ramp or lifter system has literally that.... Ramps cast into each.... Less moving parts...

  15. Ahhhh ok thank you for that I'll ask

  16. No prob... I could talk random shit about bikes all day...!

  17. I really like the Ducabike one looks very pretty and quite a decent price compared to the others but they are ball bearing rather than lifter. Is it that more of pain in the arse ?

  18. Not as such....theres just more moving parts....mines been fine...

  19. I'll have to think about it I do like the idea of the slipper though

  20. so did my History teacher
