I had a Triumph Trophy with a single seat watsonian sports chair for acouple of years. Had some good fun with it once you learn cornering teqnique, drive on left hand corners and shut off on right handers. The bike was a 69 model and it would have been 1970.
Had several over the years mainly used in the winter they range from GL1100 with watsonian Palma sidecar, Z1300, R80/7 Ural with sidecar wheel drive. Currently have a Jaws outfit great fun once you have mastered the handling
Ridden round the Lincolnshire wolds in a plywood chair pulled (just) by a 500 Norton Dommie with L plates. The bike kept spitting oil at me and it had a habit of going onto one cylinder up hills. More or less like sitting in a coffin but noisier and less well upholstered. Nice not to have to wear a lid but you get covered in shit and the chain clatter is tremendous. Ideal for going to the pub and getting pissed when you're 17 and smell of patchouli oil but little to recommend it now. If the outfit is still in one piece, which is extremely unlikely, its probably worth more than my Ducati.
I've had a Cossack outfit about 37 years ago. It was a pile of poo, but so much fun. Six up to the pub, pure class. Only thing that would put me off in the uk is the traffic, but that depends where you live.slso had formula 2 race outfit. Loved that whole experiance. Even chatting about getting another road outfit the other day. But that would be in the next few years , you love them or hate them. Most of the haters have never driven one.
I rode one once,many years ago.Never,ever,ever,ever,ever,ever,ever,ever,ever again.Ever..............ever.
@noobie Take some advice, have a go on one first before committing. First time I had a go on one, felt I was going a little to fast into a left hander so shut the throttle, whoosh feck me straight across the road into the other lane, luckily there was no traffic coming the other way. They are brilliant fun though once you master them, had a great time racing one as well.
Ahem...... To quote Noobers "JC do you find it odd other bikers stop acknowledging you now? even scooter riders" And now ???
My dad told me that about women and wives, never did work out well on that either I tend to grasp the nettle so to speak so will see what happens
Reminds me of the time someone's bike got nicked at the bo d'or and they rode three up back to Blighty ''Twas the 80's mind you
My dad on his Brough Superior and sidecar with wife and my baby sister in tow - he appears to be on a track........
My dad always had outfits when we were kids. i have a photo of my sister and i sat on one of them with him at the TT. BSA with double adult Watsonian. when he got promoted he bought a car and went back to solos in lated life he became interested in Kit Cars in particular Lomax There were in my opinion far better ones than Lomax but thats what he wanted. For those who dont know its a three wheeler along the lines of a Morgan but its built on the modified chassis of a Citroen 2CV i used to drive it for him and although i would never admit it to him it was fun to drive. was taxed as a motorcycle and i believe but not sure driven on a bike Licence. its still in my mothers garage.
