All a big fix, both walking away with a nice pay day. The fight of the century has apparently been and gone. So nothing for fight fans to look forward to now ...... well until the next one I guess
Didn't see it but reading the reports sounds like it was designed to last that long. Sure FM isn't a big hitter but all he has to do is overwhelm with punches. Pachio or Hatton would have knocked mac into next week and beyond
Watched it now. Heavy handed boxer would have had him out in round 2 but you can't take away his heart to carry on. Not sure I've ever seen FM on the front foot in any boxing match before tho! Which says a lot YouTube the post fight conference: CM is off his head when he's talking with a large bottle of Scottish in his hand!
I watched it. Good scrap, Mc gave a good account of himself. His left uppercut in the 1st round got MW's attention. I was surprised he gassed out like he did but I reckon the ref called it right. You could see at the end of the 9th, sitting on his stool (Mc) it would be over in the 10th. And so it was. Good show all round I thought. All the $$$ talk aside, I think MW is a once in a lifetime boxer, truly exceptional. Mc likewise in MMA.
You could see mayweathers pace change around the 5th round as mcgregor was getting tired. Think it was a fair call to stop it when the ref did.
The insane amounts of money in some area's of sport is plainly wrong, Football, F1, mega fights, American Football, Basket Ball (yeah, Basket Ball ffs) etc. Although I understand how it agitates a lot of us, I try to look beyond the money and watch the event itself. It was a fascinating event and a good fight I thought. Wouldn't it be great to watch a re match in the cage under MMA rules? That would also draw a $300m prize pot but MW ain't stupid. He knows he'd probably be stretchered out of the arena. He doesn't need it and it'll never happen. Mind you, I didn't think this fight would ever happen either..... hmmmmm....
