It won't matter to the taxpayer anyway, as all Germans will be deported when we leave the EU. Ooooppppss. I just went all "duke" their for a moment. Congrats to Billy & Kat. he's now fathered 2 more children than his dad.
Cant blame the lad really. I'm neither republican nor royalist, but to be fair William and Harry seem decent sorts and Kate would get her back doors well and truly booted in. (pun intended)
I think I should be able to be a citizen having lived here for 11 years. I think that I should be able to disagree with the concept of a monarchy and still be a citizen of the country. I also think charging people £2000 to become a permanent resident and then £1400 to become a citizen is a scam.

We are all entitled to our opinions...however, no one is obliged to agree with them. Equally, I'm not aware that anyone is forced to go through the 'process' to become a citizen; if one doesn't like the process or what it represents (including swearing allegiance and or the cost) one is not obliged...
I don't think you can opt out of the ceremony. https://www.gov.uk/becoming-a-british-citizen/citizenship-ceremonies
