1200 DVT 2018 Multistrada

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Wayne58, Apr 9, 2017.

  1. Sounds very much like it's been altered to the near the current Enduro frame settings, but without the 19" hoop up front?

Mine is definitely a slower handling setup than my previous 2010 S, but TBH I was expecting it and am happy with the very stable feeling this one has, even though it needs more input to throw it into a bend.

Can't imagine they will have wrecked the handling on the new one?

  2. Yeh i saw it too yesterday at NEC Very little change. Not worth asking how much to chop in old bike which is only a few months old. Would probably have heart attack anyway. The Paniggali Speciale though wow what a bike. They kept playing a track of it belting round a circuit. Nearly wet myself, absolutely mindblowing. £5 short of £35000

  3. Yes that looked fantastic and sound clip was awesome

I did like the PP Multistrada 1260 though, more of a sensible upgrade for me though as im still om my 2010 MY!

Just got to get my head around do I want to spend that much...?? Lol

  4. It's definitely a matter of personal taste (and wallet) but, the only sensible option seems the S. Looking at the US prices that were announced recently, $2300 difference for M50 brakes with larger discs, QS, Full TFT dash, Skyhook, cornering lights, is a no-brainer to me. Or if you want to see it the other way round, the price of the base model is high for what it is lacking compared to the S.
What spoils it in the PP is the absence of electronic Ohlins. Besides that, lighter (gorgeous looking) wheels and full Termignoni exhuast are great. If only it had electronically adjusted Ohlins ...

I agree the lack off electronic suspension on the PP is an issue for me too...

Although the mrs doesn't go on the back as much now (or is that me talking myself into it!!)

  6. Agreed on the Öhlins - I was looking for a reason to upgrade my 2010, with it’s semi-active Öhlins. And that’s not a full Termi, just the non-functional end can. OK, so Ducati couldn’t have sold the machine with a full Termi fitted, but they should have shipped it with the stock exhaust and the full Termi in a box “for track use only”.

  7. I think the changes are only going to be really seen when you ride it, well lets hope so, still way over priced, but so are many other manufacture's now

  8. Oh! I hadn't realized that. Then it's even more of a bad deal ...

  9. I think it looks better than the long race termi, but agree its only looks, no improvement in sound over the standard exhaust

  10. Don't think the PP has lighter wheels either? 2015-2017 PP didn't have lighter wheels or full Termi. :(
(But you did get 3 bits of carbon, a fancy paint job and non electronic suspension for your extra £3k :upyeah:(Or £7k over base :upyeah::upyeah:))

  11. Did notice the wheels were different on the P.P model. Talking to the guy from Ducati U.K on the stand & he said they had made swing arm longer & front rake shorter to stop the front end wag at speed that had been complained about. Made me wonder if they had been reading this forum for idea,s. He also said when they dropped the Electronic Ohlins it was because they could not keep the quality as they kept bursting seals so they dropped it for manual. Also the PP being more for the purist who want performance rather than off roading etc.

  13. Sounds like a load of old sales horse shit that Stevo, for those who wanna part with massive dosh for not much more stuff ?

  14. Not objecting to what the guy told you or that he was sincere when he did but, if they were reading the fora for getting ideas, they certainly missed the issue of weight vs the older model as well as other brands' equivalent bikes and the issue of mileage. As far as I can tell, they are discussed quite often.

  15. You may be right. I asked which dealership he was from & he said none. This stand is Ducati,s own. Suppose that made sense. My mate sat on multi. Bike looks like a moped, he is 6foot 4 & a bit big.

  16. Not sure about weight, these types of bikes are all heavy buggers. I love the one i have but equally my mates have various other makes & love them so its what it is. I know one thing if i had £35000 spare i would have one of these just to leer at.

  17. Only personal, but I think the 1299 FE looks better ? Seat unit too high at back and front looks ill proportioned to my eyes ?

  18. One thing I really love about my '11 model is how tightly packed everything is and how slim a profile this gives. I don't mind it looking small, although I'm half the weight of your friend @Steviegtr :D

If they hadn't done such a great job with the first 1200 regarding weight, I agree, it wouldn't be an issue now. But they have raised the bar. I'd REALLY like a new bike but I can't find one really compelling reason for the swap (yet :imp:)

  19. The most expensive bike we saw was a honda. Next to Marques,s bike. Think it was £220,000. Of course the 93 bike is not for sale so priceless.

  20. Yes agree with that. The only thing i think is better is the DVT, But to change for a new bike is a lot of dosh. I bought mine new this year but i think thats it now for me. Will be keeping it a long time. Only glad they didn,t remodel the new bike as that would have crashed the value of pre 18 bikes.
