Electronic Steering lock going funky Situation 1: rolling the bike into an unlit garagebox, steering lock won't engage and bike wont turn on too. Situation 2: rolling the bike towards the light, bike can be turned on, and electric steering lock also works. Just happened today. It was the first time I actually ridden the bike in 4°C temperatures. Something to do with the light sensor? (I assume there is one since the dashboard automatically adjust to night/day situation) So its not that it doesn't work, but its just acting funky on me all of a sudden Anyone recognize this?
I guess that your "garage box" is metal ? If your fob battery is getting low, the metal construction might interfere with the signal. I have had experience with a car fob that suffered similar issues and on my girlfriend's Diavel which drove us mad until I discovered the "new" battery was from a batch that should have failed its quality checks. Andy
nope! Concrete, underground... And the 'issue' just started today, after a long cold ride and after the coolant hose was replaced. I don't know if those elements have anything to do with the steerling lock acting weird all of a sudden. And if the battery of the remote is almost dead, we get a notification on our dash? So, thats aslo not the issue, I'd think.
I didn't say dead deliberately because of the symptoms with the Diavel. Clearly there is a point at which the fob battery has enough power not to trigger the low battery light but not enough power to talk to the aerial. If the hose replacement involved removing bodywork and tank or rooting around where the aerial is, it could be that has been disturbed. Worth asking. Andy
i'm a bit confused in wht you mean with fob battery. You did mean the remote control key fob wich is used to start the bike? I get the fact it could be the cause when I cannot power the bike. But when power is on, is the key fob still used to engage/disengage the electronic steering lock?
If I understand your symptoms, the bike doesn't wake up in the garage ? So taking a different tack. Can you power the bike up in the garage using the 4 number pin code ? If the answer is yes, then the fault lays in the fob/aerial and the simplest thing to change is the battery in the remote key. If not, get it back to the dealer. Andy
That is correct, i cannot power the bike when IN the garage. But rolling it about 2m out of the garage it does work all of a sudden. Tried this different times after each other, always the same outcome. But I didn't think about trying to power the bike while IN the garage via pincode...if it works in that case, its got to be the battery of the key fob as, you suspected... Will try it this weekend and keep the community updated! Thx for the quick tips man!
