Was in Glasgow for a meeting today, so thought I’d swing by Ducati Glasgow on the off chance that the 1260 might be in. I’m just stepping through their outer front door when my phone goes: it’s Blair, from, ah, Ducati Glasgow. “What’s he phoning me for, if he’s just seen me park?” Thought I. It then becomes obvious that he hasn’t seen me - he’s phoning me to tell me that they’ve just that moment received their first two 1260s. I let him enthuse for a bit, walking up behind him in the meantime. He finishes with, “So when can you get in?”. I hang up and reply “How about now?” In person. I help scrape him off the ceiling and he takes me for a look. I’ve promised to hold off on posting pics until Ducati Glasgow have put their own up, but got to look at and sit on what will be their 1260S demonstrator and to ogle the 1260PP. First impressions are very positive: the seat appears to be a much better fit and not so prone to forward slideage as the DVT, and overall finish looks a deal better than any Multi hitherto. The good news is that the matte grey S looks much better in person than in the photos (Blair and I were both bemoaning the loss of the red frame), with the wheels looking like proper Ducati wheels again. The PP is just stunning and, I’m pleased to say, now has proper forged Marchesinis again. So I’ve a serious dither in my immediate future: PP or 1260s Touring, the latter with full Termi? Will return for test ride as soon as the roads stop being sheet ice. Sorry to be such a wimp…
Something along the lines of holding pics off until Ducati Glaswow have their own up was mentioned at the start of paragraph 2. ^
Don’t see what difference uploading pics would make to them. Pics are available from Ducati and I’m sure there are other pics doing the rounds. Don’t see what the dealer could really complain about.
Think it's his mate, maybe they agreed along the lines while chatting? But I've no idea really it's all guess work! From what I've seen it looks great, especially in grey/ Senna?
I saw a PP 1260 at Moto Rapido on Saturday, it looks very nice but was too busy looking at sports bikes to give it my full 100% attention.
I would like to test ride to see if there is a noticeable difference to to the increased “shove” from the new engine. This would be the deciding factor to getting a 1200S on a deal or a 1260.....hermmmm! It’s obviously going to be a great bike, but so is the current 1200dvt
Having ridden the 1260 engine in the xDiavel, it's what we Scots call a "stonker" - hugely smooth and massive low-down torque. That said, I'd still want to see the top-end Ducati rush and the one I rode wasn't fully run-in, so I didn't get a chance to try that out. But looks very promising - it didn't have that "holy shiiit!" kick that a 2010 Multi has - more of a very progressive acceleration, but most welcome nonetheless
Reading between the lines after talking to a couple of dealers, it doesnt sound like they have huge order books for these either. Maybe everyone is waiting to ride one to see if they absolutely must have it, or will give it a miss this time around. Here I am working for a client less than a mile from the dealers and I can't be arsed to go look at the bike yet until I can ride it. Maybe that is telling. Its certainly making me question whether I really want to splash the cash or not.
