Do I need to remove the front wheel to change my front brake pads (2007 1098) also what pads should I fit, just general road use!
I have fitted ferodo St £50 a pair made by brembo so good quality road pads they seem good so far and £100 cheaper than the actual Brembo pads ! Remove callipers leave the front wheel fitted, pain in the arse is the double brake lines on the rhs, if you like your paint on the wheels put a rag behind
If you have the 1098s with massive 330mm discs, it can be tricky getting the calipers back on. It helps to open the pads in the caliper as wide as you can then offer the caliper back on at a slight angle, as Jamie says watch the paint on your rims as the banjo bolts are the main culprits for scraping paint!
i now have sbs pads.im really not a fan of the initial vicious bite from brembo pads in a panic situation,i have written off a 1098 last year due to this.:frown:
I use SBS now but I can't remember which ones.....I did have the SBS dual carbon ones in, which were shit hot when they we're hot, but I struggled to keep them hot enough on the road.....and in the rain it was like someone had pinched my discs. I found myself riding faster just so I could stop quicker....if that makes sence
